In their tanning salon? I'm thinking of putting one in mine, but I'd like to know what it involves and if you think it's worth it.

We're looking at a January 2006 opening and I'm still not sure about having something besides tanning. The other salon in my town has massages, body wraps, mud wraps, etc. So, I want something different.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check this thread and if you do a search I'm sure you'll find others. This has been discussed a few times over the last few months.

We had a Daz Bog coffee kiosk and ended up selling it. Probably didn't work it as much as we could have, but there were more lucrative uses for that sq ftg in the long run. I knew a guy that had 4 beds and "healthy" juice and smoothie bar. He sold, I never heard why. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks! I've searched and found several options, I'm just not sure on which would do better in my small town. I'm definitely selling swimwear, probably toe rings/belly jewelry, but I'm not sure about the smoothie thing. I may just get a Pepsi or Coke cooler and sell Water and assorted drinks from there.

Start with a pop/water/sports drink cooler and IF you find there is a "market" and you could handle taking people off running the salon and other retail to make and sell smoothies, THEN invest in the equip! It's a lot to juggle at once, and usually you find not as big a payoff as the hassle it's worth.

Thank you sunsally, I've decided to leave out the smoothies for now. I'm going to concentrate on tanning-related services in the beginning.
