The classic by Cal Tan did not turn me orange after a week now-but someone I sprayed said the dark looked orange to them. I also used Cal Tans clear and the customer didnt get any colour???? I have used JA in the past and just made another order for it-I am sticking to it-it is dark brown-the colour is awesome.

As stated in my earlier post that was deleted.......not all sunless tans will turn you orange, the reasons for orange can come from to much solution being used, to high a dha % and even dry skin can cause the color to grab and look orange.

Let me say again that not all sunless tans will turn orange. There are many different reasons. To much solution, to high dha% for the skin type. Dry skin will also cause a tan to grab and turn orange.

I've never heard a positive thing about Breeze solution.
Designer Skin solution just came out and I'm hearing mixed reviews about it as well.
The good 'ole faithful solution that everyone loves is Norvell. At $99/gallon you can't beat it.

I just checked my computer counter on my Mist-On machine and I have spayed 1779 people in the 18 months that I have had the machine. I had one (1) person complain of being orange. She was a very pale skinned redhead and it did not look orange to me. But who can argue with the customer. I just gave her the money back. I have found that Mist On's color is always good.

Not everyone loves Norvell Chiln, I can't stand the stuff. I've recently been using CalTan with great results on everyone that I've airbrushed. Trust me, I think I've probably tried them all, several times, and right now the CalTan is the best for us. That of course doesn't mean I"ll always use it...there are some great spray solutions out there, but I think we're forgetting that everyone's skin is different and will react differently. AND, how do you know that the client has fully exfoliated before their session? We're taking their word for it. I try to express how important it is to exfoliate their skin properly before their session. Take the example I had about a month ago. I talked to her at length about the session before we did it. She swore she had exfoliated totally with what she purchased from us, The day of her session I asked her if she had put on any lotion, makeup, deodorant etc. when she came in. Oh No!! She swears she didn't. Spraying was going well until I got to just around her arms by the armpit. As I sprayed, she turned green!! Yes Green! Turns out, "OH yeah, I did put deodorant on". Hmmmm.....So orange doesn't seem to be the ONLY problem! Chemicals in some of the lotions, deodorants, makeup etc, CAN and WILL react with the spray.
I"m not saying it will always happen or that one spray is better than the other. I think it all depends on what you and your clients are happy with. As my husband stated above, we are very careful to skin type the client first and determine what percentage would be best. Better to be a little lighter after development than too dark, or ORANGE! We then go from there and what they tell us about the way the color developed for them, for their next session.
Just my two cents!!

This is my first tanning salon but I have been trying self tanners from the beginning. Being fair skin with freckles I know what its like to want to be tanned at any expense. Entering this field has given me the ability to try more Self or now spray tan solutions and I have to tell you if you use the right product and the right spray gun you can give a great even natural tan. BUT....if you customer is not moisturized to the hilt and you have to tell them to moituize with a good product not Bath and body works and not just the night before. Its like a diet meaning its a lifestyle change not a quick fix. They have to drink lots of water too. I always know when a regular hasn't been doing all of that because the product will just bead on the surface of thier skin for a few moments. Like a brand new sponge thats dry. Which is what I tell them

A few helpful hints
1)Have your clients keep thier solutuon on over night and bathe in the morning. I find that this absolutely makes a difference wheather its a 4 hour time solution or an 8 - the solution I use suggests it will continue to develope up to 24 hours.
2) Use Cal tans Neutralizer if your solution has a strong DHA odor (also great as a regular deoderant for anyone without leaving white marks
3) When they do wash they shoudnt be afraid of handling thier tan and should use a loofa to scrup abound the feet and ankles. A good DHA solution won't come off from that. It's under thier skin
4) Clients should all have a bottle of Emerald Bays "Radical Rain" its a timted moisturizer that prolongs thier tan especially around feet and knees and the back of the thighs if they wear tight jeans
5)Do not use any DOVE products as it has a high PH balance and is very exfoliating to the skin thats why its such a good product. But not for spray tans.
6) I tell my clients to remember when you were a kid and you would put water on a pale rock at the beach and it would get darker and more colorful from the hydration? well your skins the same way. When you put lotion on you will appear more tan and colorfull as well

Please NOTE: I have a lot of yellow and red undertones and as good as my solution is and makes everyone else brown, I AM A TAD ORANGY. Not a lot you can do for some people. Just recognize it and worn them - its still better then being "powder" white
