I understand that there are some variables such as the slow season vs. the busy season so I would like to know what kind of hours you as salon owners spend at your place of business - Slow season / busy season and what size of salon are you running? This question would apply single salon owners.

We were open a year in May. The salon is open 7 days a week. I am there about 70% of the time we are open and there more after hours doing things behind the scenes. When I am not at the salon I am doing things from home. I used to be able to get some things done in the a.m. while there... NOT anymore. We have 7 units and average 100-120 clients per day (M-F)and 55-65 on the weekends. It is a lot of hard work but is becoming rewarding.

We are open M-Th 8am-midnight, 8am - 9pm Fri and Sat and 10-10 on Sunday but I can only be there during the day through the week. On the weekends I can't be scheduled to work, but we are always up there doing something or at least checking in. If I didn't have a 16 month old son I would be there A LOT more....

I DO have some great people working for me (My brother happens to be one of them). And I live less than a mile from the salon. My husband travels during the week so he's no help (LOL). Actually, he does a lot on the weekends - he's the salon "handy man".

I'm in College Station, TX and am wanting to open my own salon. While checking out other salons I have notced that most don't open until 9 or 10 and close around 8 or 9. This is a college town, so I was wandering if it would be beneficial to stay open later?

we are in a college town too. Right across the street from a college & last year we stayed open until 11 & it was soooooo not worth it. We are open until 10 right now but going to close at 9 starting next week.
