Thanks! I guess a really big electric bill is good news! I think I'll put video on the employees that we can access from the internet. Of course we could only watch the front desk but I think it might help. Does anybody do this? We have it at our other business and it's not that expensive.

We have it...and we watch our employees.
The title of your post is "fixed costs"...I have seen a lot of people post every expense...are you looking for fixed costs? expenses? start-up? capital items? |

Fixed costs are anything that will remain as a liability even if you close down your salon. These typically include lease payments, bank notes obligations, taxes payable (federal and state), and even salaries and wages. In some states if you layoff employees you are required to pay at least two weeks severance pay. That would be considered a fixed cost. Anything that goes up or down with sales is considered a variable expense. Some variable expenses may have fixed components. Utilities include fees or fixed components. There maybe a minimum tax amount due for city or state income taxes. I always view a certan amount of salaries and wages as "fixed". In order to keep the doors open you will need to have people, at least one or two. I hope this helps.

The confusion here is the title was "fixed costs", but you asked about "monthly costs".
I think we've covered them all here While I think the "search" function can be difficult/non-user friendly, encourage EVERYONE to just start going through the past history and reading threads - there is GREAT information already out there!! |
