What was the source for this article? Very useful - I'd love to see what else (if anything) they discussed!

Beach Club Tans,
There is no such thing as a bulletproof method for determine the tanning potential for a salon. However, if any of you are interested, check out Pointblank Business Technology. They offer a service called market potential analysis. If you want to know how to determine the potential size of the market for tanners, plus a lot more, check them out. The service is not cheap, but if you are going to invest a couple of hudnred thousand on a new salon, you might want to consider it. Good luck to you. Leo |

Big Leo -
While I have appreciated your posts and advice, it seems the last 20 have all said the same thing - use Pointblank Business Technology. Is this a company you own or sell for? You seem to be quite a fan!! |

I will say this again for those of you newbies and pro's who missed it. The best financial projections applications for indoor tanning salons and spas is TanPlan from Pointblank Business Technology. Tommy Toy, who developed the product, is the best product out there. If you want to produce financial projections for your salon TanPlan is the best. Check it out at: http://www.pointblankbusinesstechnology.com.

A Business plan for a tanning salon is a tricky animal. A good business plan is not just made up of spread sheets. You must have a solid understanding of the tanning industry and tanners spending habits. Drive by traffic and department store anchors have little impact on the success of a tanning salon. Tanning is a destination business and creates its own traffic. Video stores and Fitness centers are good business to share a center with. When making income assumptions you must use a proven formula that considers the population in a one to five mile radius depending on the size of your salon. You must consider ages 18 to 54, average age, and percentage of race. Income has little to do with the equation. With this information and a tanner percentage formula you can make realistic potential client projections. With potential client projections and your marketing program you can make solid income projections. As far as start-up cost, this to is based on industry statistics and a knowledge of how a salon must be set-up. If you secure a Consultant your business plan and all of the aspects of opening a successful tanning salon are provided for you at no charge. Why throw things at the wall and hope they stick. Do it right and insure your success.

Neon,
Everybody here supports certain companies, the posts are everywhere. Wouldn't it be funny if everybody here were salespeople? That would truly be hilarious. But honestly, I like a lot of companies, I don't hear anybody accusing me of being an Ergoline, TanAmerica or ETS salesperson when I say nice things about those companies. But if I would, Wouldn;t you expect me to say nice things about that company? I think from now on I will post nice things about lamps and throw everybody off. The following week I will post nice things about California Tan. Yeah, that's the ticket. Big Leo |
