If your thinking of opening a new salon now is the wrong time the busy season is over and you will not bring in enough to cover your costs. wait till oct and go to nashville show. vegas dosent compare .

I am thinking of going to the vegas one in June and then opening some time around end of August - mid Sept. I know this is the slow season but I am accounting for this in my Business plan. I thought it would be best to be established before the season hit. You know work the kinks out. I believe I can get up to 6 months free rent at the current location I am looking at so I think I can make it to Jan - Feb time when the season should start kicking in around here.
Why do you say the vegas show doesn't compare? It would be closer but sticking to my schedule it would be to late for me. |

Go to the Vegas show. Learn everything you can and make contacts with people who can help you in the future.
My first expo was in Vegas before we opened. I went to 2 Vegas shows before ever going to an ITA show (the most recent one in Orlando). I prefer Vegas. Just remember, money that goes to Vegas stays in Vegas. |

I would suggest you go to Las Vegas. You will have more personal time with the top people of your potential suppliers. Use this time to gain the information you need to be a very successful salon owners!
ITA show is great, just too busy to spend as much quality time with the potential suppliers to learn how they can help you be successful. |

We just bought an already established salon mid-april. It happend so fast I have basically thrown myself to the wolves, not being fully knowledgable or prepared. Would Vegas be beneficial? Or is Nashville a good show too? It would be a lot easier to get to for me. Thanks for the help.

If you are opening a store before Nashville...go to Vegas. If you would like to spend more time with manufactures..go to Vegas. We went last year because we had to buy a bunch of beds and wanted to look at our options without crowds and mayhem. I had a little too much fun...but make sure the manufactures you are interested in are going this year!

i think it totally depends where you live...if you live near las vegas sure go for it...if you would have a long distance to travel i personally wouldnt bother...i have never been there and i think it would be a blast...but i did hear that the nashville show is the biggest in the usa...best thing you can do if your planning on opening a salon is tan at who would be your compeitors and read everything on this forum and ask lots of questions...and yes going to a convevtion would be good..but talking to other salon owners would be better.
