Hi I'm new here and been reading a lot of good info on this forum. I have several ?? about a location I have in mind. The location is located in upstate NY. The demographics show approx. 10,000 18-49 yr old females within a 5 mile radius of the strip mall. The mall is anchored by A dept. store and eckerds drug store also has a movie theater, blockbuster video, laundromat, hair salon and a couple other small tenants. Thier is also a small college (1800 students 65 % female) 5 mins walking distance. There are 2 spaces available one 3000 sq.ft. the other 1200sq.ft. Rent is $13 sq.ft. Are the demos strong enough to support a tanning salon only. If so what location would be best and how many beds, standups in that location? With an advertising budget of $10,000 how many customers could I realistictly expect to get a month ( busy/slow)? On an unlimited program how often does the average tanner come in on a monthly basis ( busy/slow)? There are only 2 other small salons in town both hair/tan with a single bed each. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you.

i think the numbers are good,i think you should take the 3000 sq ft,build as many rooms as you can get, always better off leaving yourself with room to expand.start slow if you not sure, you dont need to go buy 10 beds to start,i started my salon with 3 s-class beds and 2 starship booths, then in 2 months i bought 3 more s-class beds. you have to negotiate your lease, try for $10 sq ft.good luck
