Sportarredo has a entry level HP bed called the 'Njoy. It has 6 1530 lamps on top and 5 630 on side. It is an excellent entry level HP bed.

Ergoline 850 or Matrix L33?

Two different animals

850 is a "combo" unit, so you still need to have a STRONG tanning ability to get in that bed. But then the VHR and HP combo will blast you with color.

Matrix is full HP, so your fair skinned tanners and "oops, I need a base tan by Tuesday for my vacation" tanners can still hop on and get some good color, quickly, and safely. People trying to "reduce" their UVB exposure like it too. But still very good results for your "I want to get really dark" crowd.

If I only had room for one, I'd do the Matrix.

There are currently many options in the HP market.
Combi beds that feature a HP top VHR bottom.
Some models of this type to look at are
Soltron Shark/Ergo 850
Tanses THP 24
FutureSun HP
UWE P-90 Combo
Sporterredo Extasy
Ultrasun Turbo Version 1

Then you have the mattress beds...
Ultrabronz 950
Future Sun Omega
UWE P-90 Mattress
Sporterredo NJoy
Sporterredo Mastersun
Sunsport Platinum
Matrix L22
Tanses Entropy M
Ultrasun Turbo Version 2

Then you have the 360 all HP units....
ETS Vortex
ETS Velocity
Heartland Acclaim HP
UWE Sunboard
Magic 636
King 420
Matric L33
Tanses Entropy 360
Ultrabronz has a new 360 HP bed coming soon

I may have left a couple out but you get the idea. There are many, many choices when it come to HP and to make it more complicated not all HP lamps/beds are created equal. Results can vary depending on the wattage, uvb%, and the filter glass in the bed. Price will vary as well all the way from the high teens to over $40k.

So the question was what is the best HP bed for the $$$? It really does depend on you, your customer base, and your competition. One that I mentioned that I have an interest in is the Sporterredo NJoy. This bed can be purchased new for around 16k and Its my understanding it tans extremely well. I will be taking a closer look at this bed and tanning on it in the next month or so.

I think people WANT ergoline to be the best just cause they LOOK cool. I wish, I wish it was all about the looks.

Can't say which one is best but we own the Ultrabronz 950. We have had customers that tan on Matrix, Ultrabronz 818's and Future Sun...they all have said the 950 gives better color. It also has a true uvb filter system. We have placed our fairest customer in for full time (18 min) with no burning. Costs about 35k.

That was my impression too, Engfant, at the Orlando trade show. $40-60k for a huge monstosity. Where's the Star Trek transponder button to beam me up?? And ok, after I've built a 15' by 20' room to house this gigantizoid, how many years will it take to break even on a $60k investment?

I'm happy with my "old school" Ultrabronz 818. If Ultrabronz comes out with a 360, uses a stable, reliable control board, and can keep the retail under $30k, I would buy it.

John, it is my understanding that Ultrabronz will have their 360 SunX2 ready by spring. It hopefully will be at the Vegas show and I also hope they have it set up somewhere to tan on.

I tanned in a NJoy last month and really liked it, and for the price I would like to have one.

I liked it as much as my Matrix except it is a tight fit for a bigger person, and the bed is not overwhelming to look at (which some times I think intimidates tanners) I think it would be a good level one HP to prepare people for the big boys. JMHO.
