I am both N.T.T.I. and Smart Tan Certified.... And Just N.T.T.I. for airbrush...
It's really your choice and decide which company does the most for you...In my case I would pick Smart Tan...But thats me...Have a Great day!!!

We are a smart tan certified salon and each of our employees are smart tan certified. I would go with smart tan myself. They send us news letters regularly and they host seminars and certification classes periodically. You can have the test and book sent to your salon and do the test and send it back or you can do the certification test online or you can attend one of their certification classes and be tested there. Its your choice who to go with but it is very important and impressive to have your salon and staff certified. Not to mention some states you have to be certified per state regulations. Good Luck!

I think the programs offer about the same info. Its the instructor that are different the more knowledgeable the instructor the better the class. Personal I would attend any class that American Tanning Institute offers all the instructors have extensive background some include medical.
Also a class with Steve Chaney form Smart Tan or Joe Schuster form SAE would be a good a choice

Honestly, Ntti, Smart Tan, etc are good places to START. In order to REALLY know what the **** is up you need to learn the SCIENCE behind tanning. I just had some girl come in, say she doesn't use tanning lotion cause she doesn't put chemicals on herself AND she's afriad of the beds GIVING you cancer BUT she needs to get tan by THIS SAT so she INSISTS that I BURN HER.

That's a ROUGH one to argue with a straight face.

After talking with supposed "professionals" in the biz for years I've come to learn that MOST people don't have a clue at what they are talking about over the very basic tanning knowledge.

You'll get the jerks that memorize a "tanning guide" that's usually written up by a manufacturer and geared toward their equipment and their OPINION on how it should be done. Book smarts are a good start, but you got to get your hands dirty to REALLY know what's going on.
