I know this isn't your question, but how do you make it on 6 beds anymore? What are your expectations for 1 6 bed salon in todays enviroment? Unless you are in a huge market and you can get 20.00 per session and you are going to have all H.P. beds?

dwhite...
I am planning on opening in a town of 30k ppl with only one other tanning salon. I have room for eight, but was going to start with six with the option to add two more. Rent is low...friend of the family owns building. The other salon has eight, but they dont get much call for their sunless, so i was thinking 3 base beds, one tower, and two other mid level beds. I can add the HP later if the need arises. Am i completely off base??? thanks |

Not at all pharbak. I started in a city of 30k and no other salon (then) with only 6 beds. Get in, get those up and running then ask your clients what they want. Give them options, they will tell you. Go from there. Good luck!

Good idea to add a couple more beds later. It will create new excitement in your salon and as allseasons said you will have a better idea what to go with after you get a feel for your customers.
Good Luck! |

Unless you know there is a demand for a stand-up, I would wait. We did not open with a stand-up but have a room ready for one. We are 9 months into this and I still do not feel there is a demand in our area for one. I have clients ask once in a great while if we have one. I have decided to go thru one busy season and see if there is a greater demand and then decide.
