Agree re. waiting on a stand-up. Start with 3 base beds, 1 level 2 (40lamp 160/100 type) and 1 level 3 (50+ lamps, facials, bigger acrylic area,..). Wire and build rooms to accommodate more of the level 2&3 - can always put a smaller bed in there instead.

Would expect to pay $50K for these beds to get nice equip. Plus or minus depending what you go with, but that is ballpark

Actually picking out beds is one of the last things that should be done.
Establish your complete plan of operation. Decide on your complete pricing and marketing program. Choose a space; design the most effective floor plan for that space. Your equipment mix is determined by the marketing strategy that you have chosen. As far as which brand of beds. Establish your needs. Quality, Customer service, Performance, Curb appeal. The appropriate equipment mix will make or break a salon. Don't make any decisions based on chance. Have a very specific proven plan for success and don't deviate from it. This is a short list of many things that should be done. It is just as easy to be successful as it is to struggle.

ok, if anyone can give there opinion/expertise please do so. I have wanted to open a salon for the past year but needed a good location. Where I live the population triples in the summer and they are mostly New Yorkers. I have found an awesome location just being built in front of a resort and spa on the ocean. The new construction site will consist of high end botiques(bridal,jewlery etc). My salon can be built out to my specs but at a crazy price of 55k-75k. The space is 1,500sq ft and would be built out for 11 beds. I can start with 6 beds and a sunless tanner.I think 25k will build out my salon with the use of handy men in the family. I have to sign a 5yr lease and Im a little scared.Should I get A partner or not? Is 25k-35k to much for entire build out for a building I dont own? Should I buy my own Building putting 25-35k into down payment and take my time for renevations?Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People don't know they need a stand up, until you tell them they do. You just have to sell it the can make great money! I only have 5 beds and have one, it gets use all the time! You will need a good fast 10 to 12 min laydown to for the people that to get in and out.
