salon owners making \"promises\" to me

The owners of the salon I work at keep saying they want me to buy their salon when they are ready to sell it. They are vague in their promise to sell it to me (originally they said 2 years but now I'm thinking it could be 5-10 years down the road.) And judging but what I know about them, they will certainly try to make as much money as possible off the sale. I don't know if this is such a good idea anymore. Can anyone offer me advice or comments? Thanks

They said they want you to buy it when they are ready to sell. Seems Simple enough to me. I don't see where the "promise" comes in or where a timeframe was established. Better have a talk with them to see if they are still planning to sell and to give you a better idea of when.

Well, the wife said 2 years, then 9 months later the husband told me things are going so well they dont plan on selling it for a very long time. I was fine with that, I understood, and I appreciated the husband telling me that, even though I was dissappointed. I decided to register for classes this semester and finish my degree and the wife said she sees that as a red flag, she's worried I wont stay, and that she's gonna need someone to buy the store when they are ready to sell it. I felt like she was just saying that to keep me around as a good employee.
