Preparing to Order w/ Distributor - Now What?

We think we have our bed selection narrowed down. Distributor says he'll help w/ a building layout once we choose our beds. Assuming he might want some money down before he does this - right or wrong?

What exactly should be taking place as we prepare to order? Written quote? Bargaining with price? Deposit? Going over warranties? I don't want to be taken advantage of.

And, how do you kindly dismiss another distributor that's been showing you his units that you've decided not to go with?

This is such a big purchase! It's scary & exciting.

pick out all your beds and lotions and then put it out to bid.
Who ever gives you the best price and provide you w/ the best service is who I would go with

Don't forget to have the credit card ready. Very important.

If you plan on leasing the equipment, remember to have the necessary paperwork ready for inspection, i.e. bank records, credit reports, people you have traded with for the past 30 years. Name of your first born and/or name you plan on selecting.

I do like the bid process mentioned by gottaknow. Once you have decided on a few potential manufacturers, you could also use it as some leverage to reduce the prices on the one you may really want.

That doesn't work if you are going directly to the manufacturer. If you have planned for a couple of 30 bulb/20 min beds (for example), you might go to several manufacturers to see who will give you a better price, but asking for a particular bed won't get you anything unless you are going through a middleman. In that case, you are still paying too much.
