200 amp 3 phase will handle what you've got and then some. There isn't much room for expansion at 900 feet. If your ceilings are 10 feet high you could add another 4 ton unit and be comfy with a few strategic return air vents.

Yes, more ac and electricity !!!!!!!
I also think you should start high as well b/c you can lower if needed but people will be really mad if you raise the price. What is the comp charging, is the big question as well as what are they running for beds? Does the comp offer monthly memberships? Will you offer memberships? Most people prefer not to have to pay for each individual tan. I am currently working on a salon that all of his competitors are charging $60 - $100 a month memberships (in FL). Then there are great salons that I know you can tan for $9.99 a month (in AR). It really depends on what your area will buy. I suggest you run a demographic and find out what your comp is charging and just barely under cut them to start. If they are running 1-2 beds and maybe even really old ones than you can probably start out at the same price as them and just offer memberships b/c maybe they dont. Give them some sort of incentive to tan with you instead of the comp and start at their same price. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: playitagainenterprises on 2004-10-22 11:54 ] |

I also have a question about lotions. What are the best lotions? What do you consider your best sellers? I want to start out with a variety but I don't want to buy every single lotion on the market. Any ideas?? Also how much should I spend on my first big order of the lotions. There are 5 beds in the salon

I would suggest a search on this site...Everyone has their own preferences for lotions and we are trying to boycott mfgs that sell to beauty salons/general public & it is not in our best interests to carry them. There are some excellant lotion companies out there. I would suggest trying a variety of several different ones & sampling them yourself & surveying your customers to see which ones you will continue with. So far, my best sellers are FijiBlend products, Designer Skin, & Matahari. I will be adding John Abate and discontinuing Supre
