Hi user...I just want to say that this is a great forum and most of the post I read on this board shows a great deal of knowledge.
Is it really feasible to have Tanning in a Nail salon? Have anyone on this board own that kind of business or knows anyone that does both. I own a Nail salon in Cape Cod and it gets really slow during the winter. I would like to put in tanning booth and bed but not sure if I will be getting tanning clients. Anyone have any idea what would go well with a Nail salon? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated! TIA Tom |

I had a nail tech in my salon for a while. The smell of the nail chemicals made most of the tanners complain. I had to phase it out after about 2 months. I had a fume fan at the nail tech's station. Might work for some.

I think tanning seems to get paired with other concepts...we have a tanning salon on one side and Laundromat on the other....the tanning blows it away..that is why we are opening more tanning salons not Laundromats..
If you had to and it was a must....we put ours next to one another two different names never put together in advertising....it shares employees back and forth but seems completley different. we have a door that seperates the two with a square window in the wall so you can see the other side.. |

I doubt the get much tanning due to breathing chemicals, hair floating.
If you ever notice hair and nail salons that do tanning, do very little, usually a bed stuck back in a hole that never gets cleaned or serviced. You never see a tanning salon with hair or nails added, doing any good with tanning. Where my wife gets her nails done, very upscale, has an ergo 650 that sits empty 99 % of the time. |
