I am starting up a new salon and would like some feedback or advice on salon insurance (what am I in for as far as premiums?)
and computer software. I have looked into helios / suntouch / sunease - any advice.
thanks

I like TanTrack software from Nichesoft. My insurance runs about 400/mo. I would like to find better.

I like Helios...but not networking 2 salons or more. If you look in Looking Fit magazine they have a lot of different Insurance companies that you can get quotes from.

Can't help you with the insurance part but do shop around. Tanning insurance is a specialty insurance and most regular business insurance companies won't underwrite it.

As for software, by all means check out TanTrack!
You can certainly network multiple salons with the software.

Good Luck!

Re: new owner needs advice - salon insurance and software

I saw some where you should expect $200 per bed per year. That means for a 20 bed salon it should cost $4000 yearly, and about, $330pear year. Not sure how accurate this is, but I am going to be getting quotes in the next few days and can update when I find out exact figures.

Re: new owner needs advice - salon insurance and software

liability and property insurance is very expensive. customers can fall out of a bed, they can pull a muscle getting into a bed, get burned by a bed, the number of ways that a customer can get injured are unlimited. they could claim they got skin cancer tanning.

welcome to the suntanning industry. you could have just one bed, and the liability premium would not change much. property coverage is ridiculous as well. who is going to steal a tanning bed. it's a ***** getting those beds into a salon and installed.

the insurance companies are making a mint off tanning salons.
