trying to get some ideas of what are the best money makers and what lotions are the best to have in the store. There are so many out there. What the **** is the difference between all of them. Also is it worth it to sell other items such as body jewelry and sunglasses in the store?

The best selling indoor tanning products in your salon is what ever product you want it to be.
Every salon owners has the ability to suggest and sell any indoor tanning products. The majority of tanners have very little awareness of indoor tanning brands and fewer have any brand loyality. In selecting indoor tanning products for your salon consider: 1) Is it a quality product? 2) Does it have a good fragrance? 3) What is the profit margin? 4) Where else is the product sold? * Other salons in your area? * Beauty Suppliers in your area? * Retail Stores in your area? * Internet Diversion Sites? * E-Bay? Why would you ever sell anything that was not a premium quality product without a good fragrance that you can not sell for a profit and after you send your time and effort getting a tanner to buy it they can find it for less somewhere other than your salon??? The funny thing is some salon owners do this everyday and ask why they do not sell more lotions????? _________________ [ This Message was edited by: Soakinuptherays on 2004-08-19 09:19 ] |

I think it is helpful to only have maybe 3-5 diff. brands to choose from. Customers tend to be overwhelmed by all of the choices. You need a brand that is medium priced and one that is low priced. That will help. If you are around a high school or somewhere teenage girls hang out body jewerly will do well!

Customers are going to buy what you recommend. Believe in the product and you can sell it to anyone. I would say that 3 lines is a good amount to start with. Research the products within those lines inside and out. Know what you are selling and be able to answer your customers questions at hand. Call the companies and ask for traning material/information on their product lines and then take part in time to try out the lotions and or have others try them and get feedback.

Private Label will by far be your cheapest investment. I wish I had know it 3 years ago when I opened. Like BB said though your clients are gonna go by your suggestions. But the less you have to pay the more you will make. If a salon tries to make the bills on tanning packages only, you will go belly up. The add ons are where your money will be.
