Hi all .. nice forum.
I own a personal fitness club in Massachusetts with a separate room for massage therapy. The massage therapy isn't really a big seller, so I have entertained the thought of putting in a tanning booth/bed. Since we are new, money is tight, so used equipment is most desirable. I have the oppurtunity to buy a classic HEX booth (model W601) with detachable changing room. This unit was built in 1995, refurbished in 2002. All the bulbs are working. How much should I pay for this? Seeing that the emphasis is personal training not tanning, high end equipment is not a priority here and I want to get the best bang for the buck. However, quality is important to me, so if there is another brand or if anyone has advise please let me know. I have more research to do but any "professional" advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe |

First off, if your only gonna have one bed or booth, you better get a good one, or nobody will use it. 1995 HEX booth is not gonna do it for you!! They have the same one in a Golds gym in my town, but most people just come to my salon, because it is sooo much better!! If you are gonna buy that booth, I wouldnt pay anymore than $3000-4000 for it. I suggest you splurge and get a SunDazzler from Heartland Tan. About $10,000 new, and it kicks major ***!!! Not hight end, but AWESOME results from an AWESOME piece of equipment!!

A used Sundazzler will be better than a used HEX. May cost little more (have seen used Hex booths as low as $1000 compared to Sundazzlers at $3-5000.) If you were my competition, I'd say go with the Hex.

Hi jcarn, have you considered spray tanning rather than UV since money is an issue? Please check us out at
www.spraysofrays.com. You can get into the tanning business without a large investment and your clients will be happy every time. Carry a nice line of exfoliators which they can pick up after they exercise. They can shower up, exfoliate, get their spray tan in less than 5 minutes and they are good to go looking all fit and bronzed. |

HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HEEEEE HAAAAAAA. I do I do. I will make the news if someone EVER doots in my booth.
"Tonights top story a nut case tanning salon owner known as "engfert" (gotta get it wrong) stole a pump truck and was seen spraying down a man in a car with fecal". WHen asked why he yelled out "I'm tired of this Sh*t...literally" he will be spending the rest of his life wrapped in plastic at the loony bin. |
