I am a newbie and this may be a dumb question, but here it goes. I am a small salon starting with only 2 beds. Do I need to invest in the T-max timers to start?

I would put the timers in yes...as you add on, it will make life easier. I started out with only 4 beds 6 months ago, but have added 2 more, and if I didn't have the timing system, I don't know what I would do. Even with 2 beds, it will make it more convenient for customers. It really isn't that expensive, I really like the Tmax timers that I am using, but don't have experience with any others.

If you are in a regulated state, you will probably have to put them in. If not, then
a customer can tan longer than they should, maybe a liability issue.

Should you put in timers? How else did you plan on running them? I'd feel kinda weird if I walked into a tanning salon and was setting my own time. Talk about liability. (see the thread on liability and insurance)

I would invest in them. Check out the buy/sell classified area. There is always someone looking to sell the TMax timers and managers. May get a deal. Also, check with your distributor. Mine gave me 10% off the cost of my manager when I asked.

Depending on what kind of equipment you have, you can either get two Tmax 3A individual timers and have them control the digital timers on the beds, or you can get 4 Tmax 3A's and have two 3A's at your front desk control two timers in the rooms.

If your equipment came with remote timers, you can always just use those.

Also, you DO NOT need to get a Tmax Manager for your front desk for just two rooms. That would be a complete waste of money unless you want to use software to control your rooms. However, if you do happen to come across a good deal of a couple 3A's and a Manager for less than $500 total, or less, go for it.

You said that you were a small salon starting out with two beds.Does this mean you plan to expand in the future?
4 t-max 3As approx.= $316.00, 1 T- Max Mang.Pro some where around $400.00 and no need to buy anything else down the road. Always try to think ahead.
