People have the habit of logging onto this site and asking questions that are so open ended that know one can give you an answer. Many questions posted have a lot to do with where you are located and the state of your local economy! I love the ones that ask what was your electric bill last month? How much was your rent last year? How many tans in March? Duh???? These questions are only pertinent when your local market etc. are similar people!

Hey Neon....read my posts more carefully!!!! I don't care what the situations are. I just want to know YOUR number of tanners the first, second, third and so on months you opened. I think you guys are really ashamed to admit to your opening numbers.

Thank you

I'm new myself. Just opened up the end of April, the 27th to be exact. We had originally planned on opening in February but didn't make it.

I researched beds and decided to go with what I believe to be good quality new equipment. We have all Sun Dash/Ergoline beds. 8 232's, 2 240's, 1 252, 1 650, 1 800, and 1 Avantgarde. We also have a Mystic. To date we have done 1113 tans with 90 of those being Mystics.

We sell memberships and credits. To date, our sales are just over $15,000. We've sold 89 Memberships (EFT's) and 298 packages of credits.

Not sure if that's what you're looking for or not, and I'm definitely not an established salon since I just started out myself. I have no idea if these numbers are high or low compared to the average of a first month out starting at the tail end of "busy season". I just know that we are so far above our break even point. Hope it continues.

Wow... some good reading, just got back from a weekend and was happy to see this
thread still going.

I did not mean to come out strong, but the secrecy was killing me... the whole idea of a chat forum is to share information, beneficial information.

the information above is very useful, and I wish there was more of it.

as soon as I am done with my analysis I will make sure that it is completely public,

and I have been told by a few distributors that bed manufacturers forbid.. yes "FORBID" the posting of prices on the net or in advertising... can anyone confirm this??

abbronzatura, How do your credit packages work? What type of memberships...EFT unlimited basic or more and how much? 90 Mystics seems great what do you charge for a Mystic?

And how is it still going???

Thanks Paul

You see you are missing my point. What difference does it make how many I or anyone else had when our situations may not be similar. If it makes you happy, my first month I had 2 tanners, but then there are only 7800 people in my town, but Try 'n Tan in the next city of 48 million had 5600 the first month. Just seems to me what every answer you get means nothing unless your situation is equal to the person giving the answer...............

P.S. If I new off hand what my first months stats were I'd tell you, I'm not ashamed, I still here 6 years later.

To the poster above who added 2 more units after one month: Yeah right! Were you the first salon in your state?

Most distributor will tell you a price on beds based on how many you are buying. Based on the time of year. Buy a bed now and you will start getting deals. The price one gives one new owner will be different than the next. That is probably the biggest reason we dont discuss prices. If you live in Cali, you may get a better deal than someone out east or if you are buying 10 beds verus 6 the price will be different. There are alot of factors that we all dont know, we just know what we paid. Another thing beds, change every year, just like cars and prices do go up.
