Yeah. I wish I was a franchisor in this biz. What I wouldn't give to get filthy rich in the tanning industry! Oh well, at least I have my health. I won't have to go to **** in the end either, so there's always that too. And I sleep well most nights.

I'm not looking to put someone out of business. My point, however poorly illustrated, was simply that franchises have a lot of growth potential. The smiley guy was just put in because I love the company and what it stands for, I love my job, I love my clients... I'm not the franchisor, or the franchisee, for that matter. I am the director of operations for one studio. I'm not here to take over the world. My company is a solid company with a solid reputation. We are here to maximize the benefits of tanning while minimizing the risks. I'm just solidly GUNG-HO and wanted to share that many franchises are growing and that you need not "fear" them. They simply increase your growth potential too, by bringing more focus to the industry. National Ad Funds, co-op advertising, branding, etc. You guys can keep on doing the fantastic jobs you're doing, and kepp your clients satisfied. They won't come to me, just because my price may be lower, or my lotions a bit less expensive. It's ALL about location, convenience, and customer service. In my area, there have been a couple of independent closures, and believe me, those clients don't automatically trust a new studio. We have to WOW them everytime they walk in the door. We're all here basically for the same thing. No need to bash franchises OR independents. Trust me, if I had the $$ I'd have opened my own studio last winter. But I don't. So I stay in the industry I love, doing what I love with a company I trust. I just wouldn't jump right into paying royalties to them as a franchisee. I'd rather have my studio be 100% mine, just like a lot of you.
