If you are in a desert area in SoCal, I must assume that you probably are in an area where electricity is not cheap, and that you have to run the a/c pretty much all day.
BEFORE adding Tanning to your services at a considerably low price, consider the "per tan" costs:
- electricity for the beds
- added electricity demand for a/c
- cost of re-lamping
- payroll cost

Also, be sure to verify that your municipality does not regulate tanning salons. In some California cities
operating a tanning salon requires a "bath/spa" permit...

When comparing prices of other tanning salons, make sure you compare "apples with apples"; the $30 tan you are referring to might not be in the least expensive equipment.

When doing unlimited EFT's you should keep in mind that the majority of Californians are AGAINST this type of membership - and be ready for lots of monthly management of insufficient funds/returned transactions; this requires a lot of your time...

I am not discouraging you from adding tanning - just make sure that you do all the necessary due-diligence and prepare a business plan with budget that makes sense!
