Do not discount your service from the get go! IMO
If others around you are charging more and getting it....then why don't you?!

If you plan on cutting your prices, you do not belong in this business. To undercut the competition, is to undercut the industry. Do not CHEAPEN those of us who not only love what we do, but who have worked hard to be where we are at.

You would be an insult to all of us!

Cheap prices indicate cheap service. Would you lower the prices of your 'beauty srvices'?

Stick to hair cutting!!

first off I'd like to say I know something about customer service, people in the tanning bizz don't have a corner on it, I'm very aware I'll need to do a little more in the tanning buisness then maybe in the the beauty but showing how little you know about the beauty buisness we to have to pay attention to our customers and educate them also because they come to be pampered and payed attention to just for your information. the hair people and nail people will not be taking care of the tanning customers they have their duties, but I or the staff who is hired to handle it will. as far as price I came to that # from someone in the tanning buisness not out of thin air and he was talking about eft and package deals the per tan cost will be higher. and to studio 102 you and some of the others I've seen on here have a snob attitude to us new people help us don't put us down I know of other salons that do both and do it well from what I hear and see and I'm a buisness man not a hair cutter and from what I can see from people like you in this buisness you could use more buisness people here unless you are affraid of that I'm not here to hurt the buisness I'm here to help or maybe even improve it who knows. one thing I feel srongly about is that the two buisnesses can do well togather if done right but is'nt that true about most things so if you are really here to help us new people then help don't put us down and then we really will have a strong industry not one that fears change and new people.and any one else who thinks that the beauty industry is not just as hard as the tanning buisness come walk in my shoe's for a month.I'm thankful to those who have been helpful here and please keep doing so we need you to guide us and to you over cocky people with your attitudes thanks for showing me areas in this industry that needs improving....

Thats a broad statement....customer service is #1 and if it wasn't most of us wouldn't be in business, so please don't put us all in that catogory..

And for the record most hair/Tanning salons suck and devalue the business..period, however since I don't know
nothing of you then I won't assume that you will do the same thing..;....

As for EFT prices & packages start out high otherwise you will be ]setting yourself up for failure./..I get $70.00 a mon for unlimited Tanning in any unit...have 2 EFT's 30.00 for 20 & 15 min beds and $49.00 for unlimited(meaning any Salon unit.....

Every one has raised there prices since I opened up even the Beauty Source......all the cheapo places have closed there doors...

ALOHATANCA: Well said, I'm not a big fan of hair/nail salons that slap a tanning bed into the unused closet and charge $2 a pop to pay for their next winter vacation either!

Great idea. I worked in a beauty salon who brought in two bed. Offered current clients
tanning discounts , or referral discounts. They are walking advertisements. Word of mouth is great.

I am a distributor and have quite a few clients who run successful multi-service salons. I think it is important to be open to ideas to help increase revenue such as hair, nails, spa treatments and massage.
The hair and nail industry requires much more from an owner/operator as far as education and training. I would think someone who invested in gaining that education would be a good canidate for adding tanning. In some states there are no requirements for opening a tanning salon. I do not think you can open a nail or hair salon without any formal training.
We need as many advocates for tanning as we can get. Lets support each other and help prevent uneducated tanners and owner/operators.

The biggest reason stand alone tanning salons do so well is because they don't DO HAIR!
