I have only been open for about 6 months we are looking to ad some services. Some are large investments and some not. If you have added some, what are they and would you do it agian? My wife is a licensed hair stylist so we were thinking of adding some services she is licensed to do such as waxing and pedicure type sevrvices also we looked at airbrush temp tatooing and also hydromassage beds. any comments on these options would be great

I personally think tanning is very specialized and is best served as its only service. However this is true only if your salon is doing all of the right things. Since this is not the case in most salons, going into the summer months, Infra-Red wraps are quite a powerful draw if properly advertised. Waxing is very competitive and most women will not go to a tanning salon for that service, Hydromassage is a waist of time and money.

Steve, so given if a salon that is not quite yet doing "all the right things" (but is trying!), is looking to offer additional services, what services would you implement? By infra-red wraps do you mean body wraps? or is this a totally different service? Thanks!

when i had my eyebrows waxed my tech told me not to tan for 1-2 days because it could cause bumps on the newly exposed skin, also major waxing would reveal whiter areas which could lead to accidental over exposure
so would not recommend waxing/tanning

We have added smoothies, we did have someone doing hair at one time, but she only did cuts, because of the smells of chemicals.
We have Avon available. We sell a variety of beach and fun wear.
None of these were expensive
