keep in mind that anything else in the room with the tanning unit will fade, (carpets drapes etc), or crack(plastics) and I would keep it on a low level ie basement. My beds raise an open ceilinged room about 1 degree per minute (28 bulb std bed) when I have the exhaust working.(When it's not warm enough to run the ac yet.)

true, you need to check with your homeowner's insurance. Say the bed overloads the electrical in July.... and starts a fire. You may void your whole insurance by not disclosing the upgrades to the electrical and why. As well, I agree with most others. The liability is a huge issue. Even with a consent and release of liability form, you could still get sued if they can prove negligence on your part. (Which you would be.)Not only if it's free, but especially if you charge.
I would work something out with the closest salon. Then there's set hours, and someone to take appt's... and you could still give your friends a deal. |

You should also know that your cooling bill will go up dramatically if you allow others to tan in your bed. The bed itself won’t draw that much extra power but you can rest assured the demand on keeping the area cool will cost you big. Don’t even think about putting it in a area that’s not being cooled. You won’t be able to stand it in the summer.
I also agree, 24 lamp at the smallest. Don’t waste your money on a 16 lamp bed. Even for a home unit a 16 lamp bed is junk! I had a customer come in the other day talking about buying a bed for her house. She was going to pay about $1900.00 for it. Not too bad. But, I also pointed out the extra heat it would put into the house and the increased power bill. I also did the math. She’s on my EFT program at 19.95 per month for unlimited tanning. I explained that she could tan with me for the next 8 years considering the bed price alone. Not counting the additional power usage. In home tanning beds are for the extremely rich. Since you’re looking at a 16 lamp bed, I’d say you’re not rich. That’s not an insult. It’s just a real world comment. Consider the cost over the long haul. In most cases unless you have a lot of expendable income it’s not worth it. Not to mention the pain in the butt your friends will be. |
