My wife and I are looking into opening a tanning salon, right now we're putting together a business plan and setting ourselves financially to be able to live on very little income.

I was wondering how many of you employed the services of the SBA, and more importantly, SCORE, to assist in your startup? We are eyeing them for support in areas that we're not too sure about, but are concerned that this would possibly look bad when we move into procuring financial assistance in the future.

Anybody use them?

SBA won't finance a start-up. It must be a two year old business. The trick is to find an existing tanning salon for sale and use their financials to obtain your financing. If you have a new location that you are dead set on then buy a crappy little store get your loan and use it to open the new one, close the first one or keep it open as a small satellite location.

MikeMc~ Just went to SCORE website and took a few sentences from them for you to read...
Quote:
Free and confidential small business counseling.

From marketing advice to finances, sales and operations, SCORE counselors will help you find the answers. Just as important, counselors will help you develop and think through your business plan to make sure you're asking the right questions. When you seek help from a SCORE business counselor, you get the benefit of all his or her ideas—and the continuity of knowing that someone who knows and understands your small business is available for ongoing support. Seeking advice from a SCORE counselor*provides a distinct advantage as you go forward.

Don't see any reason their advice should hinder your getting a loan in the future. Free and confidential... *

The SBA will not talk to you about a tanning salon. They will discourage you. Most banks will turn you away. Been there..too many times. Tanning is not perceived as a vital business. It is seasonal, and 90% of the banks see it as a bad risk. The SBA won't back or guarantee most prospects looking to open a salon. Yet if you wanted to open a "smoke shop", they would love to talk to you. Go figure. Prepare for much disapointments and rough roads. Good Luck

Delana & Chad
this is our post

Wow this is really a cornucopia of tanning advice. Let me start by saying we are new to the “Tanning industry”; We are looking to open a tanning salon in CA, this year. Unfortunately my partner and I have no previous experience in this arena. I’m open to all information and welcome any personal advice or thoughts! We are open to all possibilities and would like to know as much as possible prior to making a commitment to one specific area/location, equipment/products, insurance co, and so on. The do’s and don’t are always welcome as much as any other tidbits that might help us out. With Much Thanks DKP Delanapettit2001@yahoo.com riding the sun

Dearest MJ,
I am not sure what a distie is, but from the "tone" of your response it appears to me that it was a mean dig. My sympathies to you. I am new here, not a spammer, I dislike SPAM and rude people. I love to assist people and was so excited to find this site; purely by accident I might add. If you happen to start getting SPAM related to Cinnamon Bay, I assure you I had nothing to do with it. Thank you for the extra attention, and again, I am sorry to hear such negativity from someone. I hope things get better for you and you feel better about yourself soon. I am not here to bicker or play immature games. I simply want to clear up your misinformation ~ Pam

My original response was deleted..why?????
I do not know. The second evil was my response to brat like mods who made the final decision to censor me.

I remember to save that one.
Quote:I see censorship is still very much alive and well here. WHAT I SAID I HAD EVERY RIGHT TO SAY. Now no need to get your pals to warn me to death Cya! Until the coward that edited me can be seen...and states their reasons....I will not bother to visit here.

That was a clean post.... no ****, ***, *******, skrew, *****, tramp, ****, words were used. If words like 'disdain' and 'remedial' are comsidered "bad here. Then, Fhuck you people! In the future I will just reply (if at all) on Tanformation.com where the mods from CesorshipRus.com cannot evil eye my OPINION. Especially when this person called me out to play.

You guys can go back to watching grass grow or paint dry.
I will post a board free of anal retentive closed minded simpltons in charge of what is said or not said. Does it agree with the banners advertisers? Or will on a board where they cater to whining posters that bring the shiiit on themselves..and can't take it when you smack them back. I am getting really tired of cutting and pasting all my posts into word because certain people think the evil eye is their you play toy.
Buh Bye now.

PS I saved this post to..I guess censorship is alive and well here even without the brat. :eyeroll:
