Thanks, tak. I have never used minutes and was just wondering how it works. With sessions and a very pale person, I will sometimes add a couple of extra sessions in the beginning if they are only going 5-6 minutes per session to start.

I recently changed from sessions to points, I think that I will make more $$$ this way. For hard to tan tanners we let them have one month for $49, then swithch them to points...Why points?? Because 1-they never expire. 2- it opens the Salon up to all( I have a good mix of differnt equipment) and I get a differnt amount on each unit.
I also feel that minutes are bad for us salon owners.I also think that we are proving a SERVICE to them no matter hoe long they go in for....linda_________________ [ This Message was edited by: ALOHATANCA on 2004-02-23 15:56 ][ This Message was edited by: ALOHATANCA on 2004-02-23 16:21 ] |

You are in the business to make money, aren't you? Do you feel ripped off when someone buys a month unlimited and tans 20-25 times that month? Just my opinion. I agree, clients are there to gain a tan, so if it takes a several sessions at less than max. times to achieve that tan so be it. It's the end results that they are paying for not time. It's not like a phone card. |

I guess that is how I feel and why I have never seriously selling minutes. I agree that we sell tans not time. I don't, however, mind giving someone who is starting out at very few minutes per visit an extra session or two to get their base going. I don't always do it but on occasion if someone is really pale, I will. Since we don't do appointments, I can get someone else in as soon as they are done with very little down time.

I have both minute and session packages. I like the flexibility of being able to get people started with lower bed times and they feel like they are getting a better deal. We have our prices structured where once they get past 18 minutes, it is more cost effective to go to sessions. I don't feel that people drag them out and I also feel like we sell more lotions over the package time. Our customers like the fact that we are trying to give them the best tanning experience for their dollar.
On our minutes packages we have the heading "A Smarter Way to Build Your Tan Minute by Minute." We tell customers that as long as they are not burning, go ahead and increase your tan time by 2 minutes each visit, coming 2 to 3 times per week. Then when they get up to 18 minutes, it is time to switch to session packages. |

I sell by the package and minutes, I determine how long a person will tan and how long it will take them to build up to 20 min. If they are very pale and are going only 5 - 6 min. I suggest the minutes, if they are going to be at 20 min. rather quickly, I suggest for them to purchase the package of visits. My customers like that I try to give them the best deal for their money. Usually the beginners that are starting real slow have been my best lotion buyers. They want to do all they can do to get a tan, they will buy lotion and moisturizers because they know that getting a tan is not easy for them.

PamTan, I offer minutes to whoever wants to buy them. Most takers are new to tanning. I have had a lot of "older" first time tanners, sufferers of Seasonal depression, arthritis, or just want to get ready for a trip. I suggest that they start with minutes to get up to speed. Some of my elderly customers only want to go for 10 minutes max (in a 20 minute bed) Oh BTW this fits me too... I never go more than 10 minutes... My employees tease me, call me a tanning weany! ha!

Randy and Lisa..
I recieved a PM from a fan..and responded ....in short. Don't call me dearest if you don't want me to check your closet for wire hangers. Quote:LaDeDah Posts: 28 From: Plymouth, Maine Posted: 2004-03-17 19:48 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dearest MJ, I am not sure what a distie is, but from the "tone" of your response it appears to me that it was a mean dig. My sympathies to you. I am new here, not a spammer, I dislike SPAM and rude people. I love to assist people and was so excited to find this site; purely by accident I might add. If you happen to start getting SPAM related to Cinnamon Bay, I assure you I had nothing to do with it. Thank you for the extra attention, and again, I am sorry to hear such negativity from someone. I hope things get better for you and you feel better about yourself soon. I am not here to bicker or play immature games.
