your missing the bigger picture... we are in the buessness of selling vanity... a woman makes a desision because of how it makes her feel... think about this how is she gonna feel when she tans in your salon on equipment lets say a year from now thats all faded and falling apart. If ets is so good let them put up some referals. Ask them to give you the names of salons more than 20- 50 miles away from you that have their equipment and have had them for more than a year or two. it is important that they have had it for more than a year. then visit these salons and look at the condition of the faded plastics. ask the owner if he is happy with them. listen a buget is a budget. but quality is quality. do you want to swap out your equipment ount in a couple of years or rather get a decent life span out of them. I like ergoline, but there are alot of other manufacturers with good product. Lets take it a step further ever bought a used car? the sales man was really nice right. alot of distributers get fustrated with you when you say ets. because your talking in most cases about an inferiour product made cheaper by their cost cutting penny saving mesures. to their beds wich are built to actually be put in a commertial enviroment. dont buy ets... it is the equivalent of being penny wise and dollar stuppid. I went to a salon that they recomended and was discusted to see the end caps had faded in the light... after a year...

also if its all you can afford... then its better to get started with something but keep in mind you will not like it in the long run... follow your dreams... another option s to finance the equipment... do you have any compation yet?

Hey!! I drive a Ford.
But, regarding ETS. I have been like everyone else; an ETS basher. If you have read my post here on this topic, you would know my opinions have changed. They have completly improved the looks/quality of their products. They also have a GREAT HP line-up in the Italian line. I would give them another look. The Sunscape is a true VHR bed with 200w ballast/lamps. and not cheap at all..as are their other beds. True ballast/lamp mix. They are contenders for any Euro/American bed! _________________ [ This Message was edited by: soapking on 2004-01-14 04:19 ] |

Dan As you stated Dan, that is YOUR opinion, but just because there are salons out there that have ETS equipment only, does not make them a "low end" salon, or any less of a "real salon". My salon is only a year and a half old, and maybe I haven't been open long enough to know how these 8 ETS beds will hold up, but I can tell you that my only REAL competition is one block away, has been open 4 years, has ERGO beds and has already had to have 2 of them serviced due to various reasons. Their German made beds were the reason for them waiting over a week to get one part and 5 days to get another. In the meantime, the clients who paid good money to tan in these broken down beds were forced to use the base beds. If they chose not to use the base beds, they were just out of luck because they were not compensated for having to downgrade. This in itself is another story on customer service! How do I know this? I was employed there for 3 years and it happened during that time. This does not make them any less of a salon (outside of no compensation), or ERGO any less of a tanning bed, but just shows that anything can happen with any make of bed at anytime. Having been employed at that salon and now that I have my own I also know that alot of their clients have switched over to these "cheap" ETS beds of mine, love the beds and refuse to go back to the other salon. At the same time I'm sure I have lost some clients as every salon does. For anyone to say that the beds look like crap after only a couple of years, has not been to my salon. These beds look like brand new still and work like new as well! It takes a little effort to keep ANY place sparkling like new. Upkeep is important for any tanning salon. If you take pride in your business it shows. Maybe in a few years you can look back at this post and laugh at me and say I told you so, but I'm sure that by then you will have had to replace a few things on your "high-tech" beds. For now, I will take my ETS beds and enjoy the income being made from them and the smiling faces on my clients as they return each time to use them. Thank you for allowing me to express myself, and good luck with your "high-end" salon. |

Thank you Tigers, I, too may look back on this in years to come and say Uh-oh, but for now I am pleased with my ETS beds and I have not had any problems out of them and they still look just as good as they did when I bought them almost 2 years ago. I think I run a "Quality" salon and all of my customers do too. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford at own a "high end" salon, but right now I am doing the best I can, But all is cool here, I know this is all OPINIONS and people ask for your opinion and I should not get all "up in the air". OK, I am rambling now, See Ya.

As we are all entitled to our own opinions, we are all also entitled to our own choice of equipment. I do not put anyone down for their choice of the more expensive equipment therefore I feel compelled to stand up for my own choice in purchasing ETS beds. I have ZX 30's with facials up to the higher end beds. In the busy season I may only tan 150 to 200 people a day, but these beds are running non-stop and not even so much as a fan has gone out on them. Until I am proven wrong, I will stand strong in my choice! Every bed will have problems sooner or later, preferrably never but we all know it is inevitable.

I've been in the tanning business for over 14 years now. I've had just about every kind of bed you can imagine. When you get past all the Image crap of "My salon has this bed or that bed" You will eventually realize that as long as you have a machine that looks good, is easy and cheap to fix, rarely breaks down, and still puts a tan on your customers....You will succeed. I run all ETS beds except for my Suncapsule Cyclone
and do very well. The key to a successful business lies more in your cleanliness and the way that you treat your customers. :>) |

We have been in business a little over a year and have some 5 year old ets (sunvisons) and just got five new zx30's. Have only had one problem with a faulty wire on a facial. It is a pain to take the top off but then again I have never tried on any other bed. They are great start off beds and reasonably priced. I think actually trying out different beds and seeing your results will really help you decide. That is what matters most.
