Plastic does not equate to 'cheap'. Take a look around you..everything you see/use is plastic..the computer in front of you?
ETS beds are being well received. They now support the best HP units, the best software package, most popular lotions.. No longer 'cheap' price wise. The new SunScape will cost you more than a SunGate, Cayene, or Silver Bullet. The other beds are comparable in price to an Orbit/Elixir, Sontegra, and UWE |

jennyw, I can't resist - sorry (smiling)... no I don't live in a plastic house nor do I live in a streamliner (all metal motor home) either. Your car is made of metal and plastic, so are you saying that it's cheap? By the way - what is that clear thing you lay on in the tanning bed??? Acrylic - it's a polymer (Chemistry 101).

The most high tech and expensive equipment in the industry uses plastic molded covers and panels. The use of plastic has nothing to do with the quality, or lack thereof of tanning beds or booths. ETS's problem is that they have used cheap plastic that cracks and yellows after a short period of time. They have also used plastic endcaps and hinges. For home equipment that is fine. But their higher end and more expensive equipment have solid frames, strong canopy supports, and perfectly adequate lift systems that are better designed than a lot of other equipment in use.
ETS has had pleanty of design problems in the past. But there major problem now is the lingering bad reputation. They do seem to be slow learners though. The Speed system lamps have only recently been discontinued. They should have been canned after the first year. Why they kept that line for as long as they did is beyond me. |

I know acrylic is a plastic. The point I was trying to make is that the outerplastic is not durable. I can't believe you think an acrylic and the plastic ETS puts on the framework of the bed is the same. The cheap *hit they put on the outer part looks bad after about a year of use. I should know I worked in a salon where they had ETS beds. After the first year all of them were YELLOW. Where I work now has Sunliner beds and we have been open almost 2 years and none of ours are yellow. The metal stays cleaner and newer lookin longer. The yellow plastic looks sooooo nasty, Just like your post!! You obviously don't know a metaphor when you read one. You need educated on Language Arts as well as Tanning bed facts. |

Quote from another post by jennyw:
"If you are having a problem with yellowing that is all due to the beds being ETS brand. My friend has those in her salon and they both yellowed the first season. Her beds look so bad now. The salon where I work has Sunliner beds and they are GREAT!! They are ALL METAL construction and we are going into our 2nd season with the 1st being very busy and none of our beds have any yellow on them." My ETS beds are 2000 and have 6000 hrs plus in just three years have had absolutley No problems with the equipment breaking down. And I just figured I'll make more profit than theperson who spent five times as much for his higher priced bed. Sometimes you get what you pay for, as for home tanning units I bought one from ETS and 4 months later I opened my first salon.

I've only been open a year so I’m no expert but I am a business person. While most of what is being said here should be taken with a grain of salt. It’s just like Ford vs. Chevrolet. You may like one or the other better. Maybe you hate a Ford and love a Chevy. Or vise versa. Regardless of what may be said here, you need to shop around. Dig into the guts of what you’re buying and always get prices from every distributor you can. Once you gather your information, spend a lot of time weighing out everything. Compare everything from quality and price to the distributor themselves. How long have they been in business? Do they have any complaints at the BBB? All of this matters to you. It doesn’t matter if I like ETS beds or not. As you can see here, the opinion about ETS runs across the board. Ask 10 folks about ETS and you’ll get 10 different answers.
As far as bashing ETS for selling home beds….so what! ETS selling to home beds only makes them stronger as a business. Just as we all want to make more money, so do they. Since when are any of us against making money? ETS is a strong company and I’m sure ETS will continue to grow and sell beds to anyone and everyone they can? That’s what they do for a living isn’t it? By the way…I have a few ETS beds and a Sunsource as well. I like’em both. Am I married to ETS or Sunsource? No, but I bought what I could afford to open. Who knows what I’ll have in several years? Based on some of the opinions here, I should have never opened a salon if I couldn’t buy a bed from somewhere besides ETS. Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Ummm if you are saying ETS is equivelent to Ford that is not a good thing. Take a look at Ford's recall history. Most of them are for fires or something that causes death. And if it doesn't cause death then it's a reoccurring nightmare. No thanks, I'll take the Sunsource er, I mean Chevy.
