When we came into the market we looked at what everyone close had, bought better beds than them, offered better service than them, became more educated than them, charged a lot more than them, and now we are by far more successful than them.

I hate to sound like a broken record but you need to check around in your area. Where do you tan now...what are their policies? Our expirations vary from a week to a month to a year but everything has an expiration.

I have heard of salons who never put expires on there sessions packages. I on the other hand want the client to keep coming back in. We state on the client card all expire dates and on our price list. All session packages are good for 90 days from the first use. IF all sessions are not used they will expire. If I have a military client who gets deployed or goes in the field I will hold their package open. We normally give them x amount of days of extension when they return.

Prior to 2002, our minute packages never had an expiration date on them. We will continue to honor that for any minutes purchased in 2001 or prior. However, starting in 2002, we put a 1 year expiration date on all of our minutes.
Some customers grumble about it, but if you think about it a year is really a long time - and we have to continue to make profits, you know? We do offer the option that if you purchase a set of the same minutes, then it will extend the expiration date for another year from the most recent purchase date. Which isn't a bad deal either. Hope that helps! -alarris |
