All newbie and wannabe salon owners need to educate themselves on the importance of using lotion when tanning and good skin care inbetween tanning sessions. It is a win, win situation......you sell products to clients because you know the benefits of them (and you make more money), they get tan faster, maintain it longer, and their skin is healthy and glowing.
It's truly very simple, clients that tan with lotion have superior tanning results compared to those who don't; salon employees that sell lotion have happier easier to deal with clients and owners have higher profit margins to make improvements to the salon & equiptment (and whatever else they do with their money, like pay morgages and kids tuition bills). Who's not smilin' about that???? |

I agree that it lotion sales are important. You can have tanners that are dark, but you want it to be a nice and healthy looking golden tan. Don't forget to sell your Moisturizers. Employees need to use a lotion. It is hard to sell a product that you can not speak own from experience. I suggest a % off if a tanner will purchase a moisturizer and a tanning lotion on the same visit. Usually you only have to sell to a tanner one time. After that they see the benefits and will come to you asking for the next bottle.

I bumped this up because it is so important. I have not expressed this enough to my employees. generally they think that they are here to babysit when I can't be here. I am working on training now to correct that false impression.
This time of year I find it hard to sell much lotion because I have the same FEW people coming in everyday, I know what they are using and most of them have bought it from us. I could sell more moisturizers, though. Guess I need to beef up my efforts there. I will start asking, "tell me what your are using between tanning sessions to protect your tan from fading so quickly". Any other suggestions? |

Moisturizer and shower gels, seems people go through shower gels quite quickly. Get them hooked on yours....ph balanced for tanners, won't strip the acid mantel, lots of benefits over bar soap!!!!!
