Question and Feedback requested regarding this thought

This thought came about from some conversations via another message board. Someone had suggested placing it within this one too. Sorry I just saw the ad this past month in one of the mags so I am new here. However that does not mean I am new to the tanning business.

What the conversations where on was creating a membership or consortium that can assist small to med size tanning salon owners. This would exclude salons with over 5 locations. The reason for this thought is that someone needs to support mom & pop and keep then alive. And with thought in mind we wanted to create a memebership fee that would be inline with a small business owners budget. So right now we talked about keeping the price to $575.00 to $675.00per yearly that can either be paid yearly or split to monthly.

For this membership fee they not only get discounts on lotions (plus a private line), tanning supplies, possibly beds and otherwears like a distributor. However it does not end there. They will get the following services at their fingertips:

-accounting service
-ad department
-add-on support
-computer sales & network support
-marketing department
-special weekend or week long retreats in various location
-startup classes for newbies w/optional hands on training
-vacation store support & supplies
-website design discounts
-website hosting discounts (right now we confirmed a $95 yearly rate with 3gig transfer/15 email boxes & no setup charge!)

Personally this started with our concept store to assist new people start up tanning salons without getting taken from these franchise people. And with giving new salon owners support once they opened and current salon owners support to continue.

So what do you think? Do we need this or not? Would you as a new salon owner feel more comfortable with this type of support. Let me know.

Lindsay - Chunn is currently working on creating something similar to what you are talking about. If you register for the Salon Owner's forum, you will find a ton of posts discussing BigDog and its details.
