Hi,everyone!I have a question about sunspots, one of my customers today showed me her stomach & she has white spots all over it,she said this happened about 3 tans ago.I believe its sunspots,I never had a customer yet w/sunspots,how should I handle this?I know there is a lotion specially for sunspots, but since tomorrow is saturday,I wont beable to get it in until next week. She wants to tan tomorrow, should I have her cover the area,or what? What is a good lotion for this?Is this caused just by Tinea Versicolor or is there other causes to why this happened?About how long will it take to clear up?Should she do anything to prevent this from happening again? Thanks Amy

Tamar~No its not dry skin(thats what I thought at first, until she showed me her stomach)Its actual white ,round spots, clustered around the middle of her stomach. She hasn't been in today, yet, but when she comes in I'm going to look at her stomach again.Does sunspots only show up during and after tanning, then fade away?Or does it stay that way until it clears up?Thanks Amy

Ask if she is on any medication. birth control pills can cause this also. Just a thought.
I had a client that had white spots on the shoulders and was suggested that I recommend Selsun Blue Shampoo which did work for her. There are several post on this type stuff But i dont know where in the archives. |

Watch out for the Selsun Blue, had a customer get chemical burn from using it. She totally messed up her skin and tan and now has to be very careful when she is tanning. She had a great tan and went to the lake for a weekend and got sun burned from where she wouldn't listen and wear sunscreen. She went to the internet to get medical advise on how to treat it, that's were she messed up.

Sunvelocity128-
It does sound like the description of Tinea Versicolor, which I believe is a type of fungus that grows slowly and prevents the skin from tanning normally. I'm not a Doctor, but I've heard that if you use a product with Selenium Sulfide in it, the spots show disapate. |

If it is sunspots & it sounds like it is...there is also a product by Body Drench called WipeOut -- I have read many posts where others have recommended this & I never had sunspots until this past year. I used the Selson Blue & the wipeout -- Put wipeout on the spots twice a day. In the morning, I washed my hair with Selson blue & also scrubbed the spots with Selson Blue -- I covered that area with a towel when I tanned & they were gone in a little over a week. I heard that you shouldn't tan that area until they are cleared up & also, that once you have them, you may be prone to them, but I am not sure if that is true.
Yes, you can see them all the time, but they are much more noticeable right after tanning. |
