type of lights in your salon

would simply like to hear from different salon owners as to what type of lighting they have in their salons. ie: incandescent,halogen lights. looking to see what people are using in the lobby and the tanning rooms. what gives the appearence of a better (darker) tan to the customer. do's anyone use track lighting or recessed lights. thanks for your input.

John B,A few years ago I removed all flourescent lights for all my resorts and replaced them with incandescent, halogen spots and track lighting.I really like the mood it sets. I think the flourescent makes people look YELLOWMichael

I have indirect lighting in my one salon (track lights, etc.) In the other one, I disconnected several of the florescents panels and installed new slimline natural look ones. I used diffusers (the honeycome ones with the chrome color.) The look is clean without the unnatural brightness typical of florescents. In the rooms I used sconces with pink tinted light bulbs. I like the overall look.

I agree with Michael on the lighting of our salons, I have tanned at other places and notice the yellow hue to my skin when I get out of the bed.I like our resorts lighting, not too bright. Kind of cozy feeling.------------------Tonya CrickCustomer Service ManagerSandollar Corporation

In our lobby we put recessed lights on a dimmer, I can set the mood. We also used a pinkish/tan wall pain.In the hallway I copied Sanddollars decor(thanks Michael).We used a rough ceramic wall sconce with 40 watt bulbs. Does a great job in softening the tone.

beside the lighting, what else is great for the tone? I will be relocating sometime in the near future and was thinking of doing my interior walls and trim in sand and taupe color scheme. I also love soft yellows. what is your opinion"

There is a salon in our city it looks nice VERY DARK little to no lighting, moody, I liked it. But as I thought about it I don't like dark shops you wonder what they are hiding. Like are they clean, you can't see to tell.
