Some of you may already know that JohnB is my fiance and we're planning to open our salon within the next 6 months. We've already determined what base beds we want to purchase, Ovation 128, and we are now trying to determine what upgrade bed we would like. This is where we are a bit confused. What is everyone's opinion as to what is a better value: An Ovation134VLR, a 15 minute bed with Cosmolux lamps OR a bed that may have 44 100Watt lamps? Does anyone know which of these beds has better performance and what a good upgrade charge would be for each of these? Thanks for your input. I'm fairly new to this industry and trying my best to learn as much as I can. Thanks for any help you can give me!Laney

Laney,I am not familiar with the beds you mentioned but I can tell you about our best upgrade. We have a bed that has 32 lamps, all reflector lamps that is not the favorite, our ultrabronz HP people love but kinda costly to use,our favorite is our Tan America premier gold.It has 42 160watt reflectors, very roomy and we charge $6.00 as an upgrade or $13.00 off the street. This bed is requested by many of our regular tanners.

Tom what we are trying to figure out what is the better of the two.bed 1 34 100 vlr lamps these are reflector lamps cosmolux its a heartland ovation bedbed 2 is 44 100 watt lamps not reflector don't remember who makes this one.so if you did math bed 1 has 3400 wattsbed 2 4400 watts but do's the reflector lamps make up the difference between them?we are looking for a simple upgrade bed like a level 2 bed something not as strong a a vhr. where we might charge a $2-3 upgrade price.we intend to have a vhr but we want 4 levels of tanning. ie:level 1 base bed 28-32 lamps 100 wattlevel 2 32-36 lamps 100 watt vlrlevel 3 ovation 144/3 or a orbit or sun ergoline 240g or silver bullet.level 4 high pressure (not right away).

Hello!I would suggest the 134/3 vlr ovation. It is larger than the twenty eight and has the addition of the three facials. Also, It keeps a larger seperation in the amount of lamps from higher upgrade units you will be purchasing.Another factor to consider, is that by going with the 134/3 you will be dealing with the same manufacturer. This makes life a litlle easier when stocking replacement parts and dealing with customer service reps. For your price structure you have mentioned I think a 44 lamp unit is too much!the combination of low uvb VLR lamp beds and the higher uvb 28s works out well!I hope this helps!
