Rep Power: 0 | Competition / Body Building Spray Tans Hey Tan Talk, Looking to break into the competition scene further with our spray tans & just wanted to ask some questions / suggestions. We have our solution (Norvell Blackout) which we've used on our competitors so far & it looks amazing. We have the know how in regards to getting the word out about our services. Just curious as to: 1.) the glazing / immediate before stage prep. Should we be offering a service on that or allow the show volunteers/stage folks take care of the pre stage prep. I've seen rollers, buffing pads, and assuming they are applying the glaze with these too. Not sure how all that works (help) 2.) I've seen some companies simply rent out hotel rooms or conference rooms for these spray tans . What extra precautions are you taking to ensure the room doesn't get a crazy amount of overspray everywhere? I've seen walls taped up with plastic drop cloths but what about the floors? The bottoms of the competitors feet, etc? Any help, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Some client will have their own but it is best for you to offer it. The rollers and buffing pads are awesome to use for applying the glaze. I use banana boat or tropicana dark tanning oil, spray it on then roll it on. Works awesome. Some companies do rent out a hotel room but you have to be careful with this because some hotels are against spray tanning in their rooms because of the overspray getting all over. And then if you don't have permission from the hotel to tan in the room, you are conducting business within an established business which you can be fined for. If you are allowed to do it though, tape up the walls with the plastic back drop, tarps on the floor. I've been competing and been the official spray tanning company for many competition shows.

Rep Power: 13 | Re: Competition / Body Building Spray Tans I visited and liked your FB page just now. Next time you have a competition tan take a photo of your set-up you can send me a PM. I would love to see what that looks like based on all your experience. Even the tanning part is pretty competitive not that I've really tried but I heard certain people are the official tanners and that's it. I'm interested in learning more. :)
