Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan 1 Attachment(s) I have a client with really light blonde hair and fair skin tone but she can pull off a darker tan. She has eczema (does use cortisone cream) and we have tried a few different solutions but are not getting the deep brown colour she wants. After the first few times she loved the initial colour with the colour guide but experienced post-rinse disappointment when the developed tan result was not close to the colour following application. So far we have tried the following solutions and a variety of applications using different equipment at different solution levels: Norvell One, Norvell Dark, Aviva Miami, Aviva Gimme Brown 12% Prefer to source solution locally if possible. Any suggestions? I've attached an image of the clients desired tan colour for reference. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Hi, I would suggest using the Aviva Booster Drops in the 12%. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Norvell Double Dark or New Norvell Venetian Plus might be best. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan If she is fair skin.....that 12% most likely does not fade well on her. Especially with eczema. Clients with eczema tend to have dry skin. For example, my sister has eczema and has fair skin. I use an 8% on her and she loves it. By going higher on a dha% with a client with eczema, you will dry out their skin more. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan I can use Double Dark on every single skin type. When you're experienced you know exactly how much to spray. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Very true. Im very experienced and would not use a 9% on an very fair client. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Thanks everybody! I'll have to order some Norvell Double Dark and give that a try. I wanted to opt for a lower dha but the 12% was recommended. I appreciate all of the invaluable advice from experience! |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Welcome. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan She would def do great with a sunless bronzing moisturizer add on. Rain or So naughty Nude sunless. Not only great moisturizer but that little bit of layering everyday keeps that nice color up. If she has eczema and is not bothered by the spray she might be pleased with being able to keep adding that nice bronze color. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Maybe try layering the product? What I do with my daughter who is very pale, blonde hair and suffers with eczema and she uses cortisone cream from time to time is to ALWAYS prep her skin with my prep spray, then I spray 2 x 6% tanning solution (only using around 30ml), and then do the same again. This way she gets great depth of colour and she doesn't fade badly either. When I've sprayed her with higher DHA % she gets poor fade and also her skin dries out so much quicker and she gets more scratchy. Remember higher DHA % means more drying. We stick to this technique now as it works well. HTH |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Definitely try the Norvell Venetian and/or Venetian Plus. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Thanks Angelina! Can you please PM me the solution you use? Since you have had success with this method I feel more confident in applying it for other clients to achieve the right depth and even coverage. I want to make sure I understand correctly. "spray 2 x 6% tanning solution (only using around 30ml), and then do the same again." You do 2 layers of the 6% then do 2 more layers on the same day or is it on 2 separate days or just 2 layers TOTAL. Thanks in advance! |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Yes, I would have to agree with Angelina. I do that at times to my sister. You can do 2 layers back to back but make sure to dry your client after the first layer. My client I tanned yesterday, I made her use a very thin layer of lotion on her legs because she is super dry, then I tanned her 2x with my 7% solution. I did a follow up on her and she loves her tan. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Hey Jenuinetan, yes I spray 2 light coats of 6%, let it dry, I usually wait around 15 minutes and then re-apply. I agree with Paradise Bronze, use a thin layer of moisturiser if they have really dry skin. I use Unreal Sunless - I'm based in the UK so not sure you have it where you are. Good luck! |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan When I tan clients with Eczema I use a tiny bit of barrier cream/lotion and lightly coat those areas so the solution will not grab on the dry patches. I use Competition Tan from Jamaica Me Tan as a regular tanning solution when my clients want to be extra dark and can handle the DHA level. But there are 4 choices to choose from with this line. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Thanks! Lots of great information! I LOVE the LOVE on this site and sharing experience and knowledge! AWESOME! Especially when working solo having a forum is invaluable. Thanks everybody! OK yes I may have a martini or 2. : ) |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Norvell Venetian Plus is what works for me and that condition. |
Re: Best Sunless Solution for Deep Brown Tan Too funny! I was just revisiting this thread and I AM NOW using the Norvell Venetian Plus which clients seem to prefer over the Norvell One. I am actually doing another Solution Challenge for my Tantini Tuesday segment comparing the Venetian Plus colour at 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours to see the difference side-by-side. Check out the results if you as interested as I am on my youtube channel JenuineAirbrushTan. I can't wait to see the results. |
