Rep Power: 19 | Is a Spray Booth worth it? I've been doing Norvell HVLP for over 7 years in my salon. I just don't know if a booth would be worth the investment. I live in a small town. 10,000 inside the city limits, with around 35,000 in the county that have this city's address. We did 163 spray tans last year. The guy at Heartland trying to sell me a Pura is saying I could do 2,000 sprays a year. I don't believe that at all! I don't think it would increase spray traffic that much. Maybe double what I'm doing now? I would love to hear from other salon owners in small towns that invested in a booth.

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Is a Spray Booth worth it? You would never recoup the cost of the booth. I did about as many sprays as you did last year and didn't recoup the $6000 I paid for a used Mystic. You could never justify buying a new spray booth, for $20,000- $ 25,000, so I'd stay with what you're doing. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Is a Spray Booth worth it? Sounds like a slick talking tanning industry salesman. You are probably better off with using the hand held. The unit will cost you at least 25k, then you will need a buildout with water and a drain, which could be another 5k or more. Then when it breaks, and you are not near service tech....I'm sure he didn't tell you any of that |

Rep Power: 23 | Re: Is a Spray Booth worth it? Nothing beats the results of the tech spraying the client. There will be a good percentage of people that are too shy to strip down in front of the tech. How many automated booths are there now that compete with you? I would take a survey with each customer that comes in & see what they think? Just a clip board up front to gather info. A $25k Unit will take about 1000 sessions @ $25 each to just pay off the machine.

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Is a Spray Booth worth it? I would tell you go for it , look for something used if not go for it. Back in 2003 when I open my first salon , I was looking at 150,000.+ At that time is when the Mystic blue box was out, I was looking at all tanning equipment and not sunless, I look at it a little closer and decide to buy new, went to show brought the booth they had a specail running with product , all I took was solution nothing else, in 10 month I paid off the booth . The decidion to do sunless was a business move, to bring in something no one else had, and it paid off, big time . today I have 3 salon all with versapar, yes one unit brand new the other 2 used. Look at it as a money maker, I dont believed in hand sprayer, for it get into other problem, and I keep my help away from those problem, but that me. Common sense it what you have to work with.If you have the $$$$ go for it, and never look back. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Is a Spray Booth worth it? I believe that booths are a good "add" to any salon, especially if the owner is not ready or able to do hand held spraying. However, I bought a used unit that was refurbed at 1/10 of the cost of a new unit. I can't see paying 25k for anything in the Tanning business. I do not believe anyone who says they payed off a 25k machine in 10 months. Sorry dude. |

I agree that $25K is a high price tag for any Sunless Machine, but that is the going price.

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Is a Spray Booth worth it? The going price for a new HP is 35k, but I would never pay that. But a lot of salon owners get suckered into it with big promises. $25 dollar sessions, etc. You will never get that. Buyers beware. |
