PH Balancer

What exactly is in a PH balancer?..

Are there any alternatives? I read lemon juice and water?

Re: PH Balancer

Lemon juice will remove a tan and would not be good before, very acidic.

Califonia Tan, Norvell, Versa all have nice prep gels and sprays. We use the CT Maximizer.

PH prep will make the tan last longer and it serves as an insurance against PH related spots when the tan develops.

If some one is not coming in stright from a shower (clean and fresh), we almost demand that they buy a Maximizer.

I use Sjolie's PH balancer on all my clients as part of the service. As House of Tan said it will help the tan last longer, but I find that it also gives the tan a richer color. Also, if they are coming from work, the gym or just took a shower it's good to use to cleanse the skin of any residue build up.

As well as the things already mentioned it also strips off any residue from shower lotions or hair conditioners. I can't tell you the amount of times clients claim they haven't used a "moisturising" shower gel just before they come for their spray session, but as soon as I spray them I can see the sunless tanner is not penetrating effectively. I always use it now, most tanning companies have one. They don't tend to be expensive and last a long time as you don't use much so it's good value for money. I buy mine in 500ml trigger spray bottles from Unreal Sunless.

According to Sunless, Inc., their PH Balancing treatment for VersaPRO will help avoid an unnatural tint to the color developed, and will help the tan last a little longer.

PH Balance is a must in my opinion.

I totally agree a PH Balancer helps clean and create the right "foundation" for the solution. I use a ph product for every client prior to applying the solution.

This also provides an opportunity to check skin condition and when it is a new client I find it helps with comfort level. I currently use the Norvell spray so it's a bit of a preview to prepare for the lovely cold tan solution. I spray it on out of a bottle and the client uses a mitt to dry/buff their front facing away from me and I do their back and voila we are in position to commence tan.

I've also tried sluffwipes and fake bake ph wipes. Spray is my fav as I think it lasts longer and it is smaller to carry and less waste.

PS: Read the ingredients for some of the ph products available. It is definitely not made of lemon & water there is a lot more to it and in my opinion well worth it. I believe clients see the difference both during their appointment and following when you take every step to ensure optimal results.
