Question Frozen solution??

I ordered 5 gallon of Norvell solution and it was frozen when it was delivered. 2 days of below -10 temps around here. When it thawed it looked fine, but I was wondering if it's still good. Thanks

Dihydroxyacetone degrades with both excessive heat and cold

Maybe Norvell would be willing to give you a credit or a discount on your next solution if you call and tell them what happened. It's a shame it has to be thrown away ($$$)!

Re: Frozen solution??

This could be a problem for any of us ordering solutions at this time. I received a shipment today of product for a versapro thats getting installed, and I hope it wasn't frozen. The bag that the barrier cream is in was ice cold.

Re: Frozen solution??

Distributors should know better than to ship in this cold weather (or) offer an upgrade to next day* and/or with a 'No Freeze' option via FedEx or UPS. You should have to pay the upgrade as it is not their fault it freaking cold out. I have started ordering juice about 2-3 weeks before I need it just in case of issues like this or back orders.

FedEx next day will more than likely mean that your juice will be in a giant metal tube miles in the air and will freeze up there too. You have to specify ‘No Freeze’.

They could also pack them with charcoal packs, but then you get into heat issues if it is not diffused: IE: if they put the pack right on the side of the jug.

Re: Frozen solution??

I guess I don't understand what low temperature results in degradation of DHA. It was my understanding that many lotion and solution manufacturers freeze DHA until its time to mix it into finished products. At what low temperature does damage occur? 10 below freezing, 20 below freezing 30 below freezing or what?

Re: Frozen solution??

What degrades DHA quicker, higher or lower temps. I's say higher temps would be more harmful. I didn't want to take any chances for unhappy customers, so I dumped my frozen solution . A few unhappy customers would cost me more than 5 gallons of solution .
