Question Norvell VIP - tan results at 8 on the dial?

After I purchased the Norvell VIP/Tanning Essentials unit I read about the dreaded "dial" setting accidently moving and ALWAYS before today kept a close eye on it as I knew this was an issue or shall we say quirk. Today however it was one of THOSE days and I did not notice that it was set on 8 in fact the solution applied perfectly although I did notice I went through more than usual...no wonder!

I would love to hear if anyone has any experience with the tan result at this setting. I only ever use "8" for cleaning the guns. I was using the Norvell One solution with a single application thankfully. Also just to say the kind of day it has been the hose popped clean off the connector piece which was still on the turbine unit mid-tan however I am pleased to say black electrical tape worked like a charm. Something new to add to the kit.

Wow, cant believe no one replied to this?? I have the same system because it came free when I purchased the All-In-One Arena but I have never used it. How has it been working since you posted?

Either no one wanted to admit that had happened to them or everyone thought OMG how could you let that happen? Either way I resisted replying to update my own semi-desperate plea for support and guidance. The clients were really happy with the results and the electrical tape held up nicely although the other end of the hose cracked on Friday. I was told that Norvell has moved away from the 2011 VIP model hose and gun configuration but I could purchase a new hose with different guns and still use the same turbine. So for all those who accidently sprayed on 8 not to worry the result will still be great! : )

oh, I also meant to ask how long you had the system before you started having issues with the hose and the dial

I have the Tanning Essentials Pro and spray with my dial at 8 using 2 oz of solution . I never had a problem with the dial moving to another number unless I move it myself. Sometimes I'll spray at 6 and for body contouring I'll use a 2 or 3. Many happy clients I have.

Now ya tell me...that 8 is OK??? That is hilarious! I thought for sure that night would be the end of any positive referrals!! I originally was told 5 was perfect then read (I think on here) that 3 was recommended. It went on perfectly at 8 but I really did go through solution fast, obviously.

As far as the machine goes as other people have commented they definitely hold water when cleaning but it hasn't caused an issue. I didn't have any problem with the machine until after 1 year and it is all related to the hose which I kind of thought might happen being that it is all plastic which makes it so portable but not as durable as some of the other systems available.

Also I kept removing the gun to dry clients but I think that adds wear and tear and now have added a portable dryer to my kit. It's funny cause I was saying I would never use a hair dryer when I have a perfectly good multifunctional machine. Never say never.

Paradise Bronze - If you don't mind my asking what solution do you use and how long does it take you to do a FB tan? Just wondering because my clients were happy with the results and I really did it unintentionally so I'm not even sure how I adjusted my normal spray. I thought 8 was only for cleaning the gun but if you are having great results I would totally appreciate any tips.

Re: Norvell VIP - tan results at 8 on the dial?

When I tan my clients, I have the power on high and use number 8. Now if you are going through solution fast, then you can either have your power on max (still) and turn your dial down to 6 or 7, OR have your dial on 8 and turn down the power on the machine. I use 3 for body contouring. 3 sprays really lightly.

I've been using my machine for a long time and to dry clients, I remove the gun. Never had a problem with wear but you just gotta be careful when doing it. The machine is multifunctional.

Re: Norvell VIP - tan results at 8 on the dial?

Thanks Paradise Bronze great advice! I love using the machine to dry clients with the warm air. Might just try and get my hands on 2 hoses so I always have a spare. Truth be told it was my "personal" tan tech who cracked it - not me - I treat my machine with RESPECT. You are making me want to experiment with settings as I really kind of just got stuck in a dial 3-5 power 3/4 range and afraid to try different variations.
