Peanut allergies and Sjolie Solution

I have a potential Client who has a peanut allergy and I only use Sjolie solution . I have never had this question asked before and I checked the ingredients and saw that there is walnut extract in the solution . I;m guessing this is a no-no for someone with a peanut allergy..:-((

Anyone know of an organic solution that does not contain peanuts of any kind?

Thanks!

Re: Peanut allergies and Sjolie Solution

I asked Sjolie the same question, pretty recently actually, when I heard that there was walnut extract in the solution and I believe they suggested doing a patch test and seeing how that turns out since most people's nut allergies are activated when they ingest peanut products rather then it being applied to the outside of the skin (according to them).

With that being said, I am not one to take any chances, and will start including in my waiver that walnut extract is used in the solution and to check with a physician before use if there is a concern.

As for other solution , I would call and ask which ever company you're interested in for their ingredient's list or if there are any nut products in their solutions. Hope this helps! :)

Re: Peanut allergies and Sjolie Solution

Thanks for the reply :-) I never even thought of this and can't believe I wasn't more educated about it..I'm afraid to think of what might have happened had i sprayed her.I think an allergy, is an allergy. I did some research last night about people who were sprayed and woke up all swollen or with rashes, some with their eyes swollen shut..not worth the risk..I emailed Tampa Bay tan and they were very quick to reply and sent me a full ingredients listing for all their solutions..will have to use some non organic solutions and disclose the info before tanning my clients..Walnut Extract is great fro some people like myself who suffer from eczema..so not giving up on Sjolie completely :-)

Use a clear solution , the walnut extract is only in tinted solutions.

Re: Peanut allergies and Sjolie Solution

Just to chime in...I have severe nut allergies (especially walnuts) I carry an epipen and I use Sjolie as one of my tanning solutions .
When I first used it I did find I was having a skin reaction...which I attributed to the Aloe vera until I realized there was nut extracts in the solution but I didnt have a dangerous reaction from using it and actually stopped reacting to it after 3 applications. However I would NOT use this product on someone else with a nut allergy because people can react so differently..or if your immune system is low from a cold, flu, recent pregnancy..your body will react more severely to its allergies. So one time your client might not react and then the next show up with a cold and end up having a severe reaction.
Also the spray CAN obviously enter the mouth and nose when spraying a client.

Ive went into Anaphylaxis shock from mistakenly eating barely half a walnut in the past..Its really not a risk to take with your clients. Walnuts are the nut allergy that causes the MOST reactions.
