Hand lotion or cream instead of barrier cream?

I feel like I have heard somewhere that you can use basic hand lotion as a barrier cream for your client's hands...has anyone tried this? Is it worth spending the extra money on barrier cream or does a regular lotion achieve the same thing?

barrier creme is not that expensive so why try using a basic moisturizer ? i order from URI, the CT barrier creme 1 litre bottles. at most, a person could use certain moisturizer lotions NOT containing mineral oils or any petroleum by products for their body and do fine...but i don;t recommend that over using a pre spray lotion that also accelerates the curing process and insures better color consistancy. mystics base accelerator works terrific.

i would also add, when we get clients from other salons offering UV free and see that we provide the barrier creme...they always make the comment they were only offered a cheap moisturizer or nothing at all, prior. so, offering clients a cheap moisturizer to use instead of whats recommended...could hurt you too.

I use a coconut body creme from the dollar store. I've never had any problems with it and don't know why the clients would care what kind your using. I used to not use anything at all because I purposefully go lighter in those areas, but I found that it does give them a piece of mind since most have had bad experiences elsewhere with oversprayed hands/feet.

I get better results from Coco Butter than traditional barrier cream.
