Rep Power: 16 | Advertising... ahhhh, help... :) Any suggestions for advertising? BOTH of my first two clients were no shows, with no call, nothing. I advertised on a free website and that is all. As I stated before, airbrush is still a newer thing here in OH. I have a limited advertising budget until I start getting some business. I was thinking of getting some free postcards printed out from Vistaprints and then taking them and dropping them off at homes. But not sure what area to target... Suggestions? |

Anyway, hon, the best advertising out there for your business is WOM (Word Of Mouth). Get yourself in the yellow pages if it's in the budget, by all means; maybe a local news paper or two wouldn't hurt either. But you have to be talking about yourself and your business to EVERYBODY - the gal that rings up your groceries, the kid that bags them, the stuffy old broad that parked next to you and the hot little number that parked next to her, and the guy that parked next to them ... get my meaning? And, everybody that knows and loves you need to be talking to everybody that they know, and those they don't - and make it worth their while to do so - referral incentives! Preferrably in product and services; but if it's one thing I've learned in this business over the years, people will talk to anybody for you and about you for $5! Hope this helps. Good luck! ~I normally don't help out the airbrush people, but I thought you were someone else~

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Advertising... ahhhh, help... :) A post asking for suggestions for inexpensive advertising ideas is something that has to be shared via PM's??? Makes no sense to me at all............. Lots of threads with MANY ideas about advertising. I'd suggest you go to "search" and put in "advertising" and see what you can find. If you find a good one, hit reply and "bump" so others will be able to enjoy the post and add additional comments for all to share and learn from! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Advertising... ahhhh, help... :) I agree with word of mouth, by far my best advertising. When I purchased my salon the previous owners did not do much advertising. My husband and I passed out postcards, which we got from Vista. We did not put them on cars, we would just walk up to people at the mall in, shopping centers, grocery stores, basically where ever people were. We would shake their hand and give them a free tan card. Our response on this has been wonderful. We get around 5-10 new customers every day. And at least 80% of them return. We offer them a big discount when they come in and most people buy a package. You do get the people that only want the free tan, and then you never see them again. Another thing I did to promote our sunless sprays, I made cards with 1/2 off a spray tan passed them out to hair and nail salons. Not to the customers but to the stylist and nail techs. My reason for this was the client would then say" wow your tan is amazing, did you go on vacation or something" Then the stylist would say " no I got sprayed at xyz tanning salon" From one nail place alone I booked 5 sprays. |

When they come in for a service they get coupons for everything else we do at the salon. The coupons are $2 for mani's, $5 for pedi's,and spray tanning , and $10 for massages and facials. Its been a great promo.... I hate to discount service $ but a tough economy warrants tough sales tactics!!! And i agree with Mr. "B" WOM is the best ad you can get ... at any cost!!!! Hope this helps!!! |
