Rep Power: 14 | Extremely Itchy irritated skin after airbrush!? I have a couple clients that were airbrushing every week, and then started having a certain area (neck on one person, and chest on the other) that basically become inflammed, red, and very itchy after getting their tans. Anyone ever have a customer complain this? I am using Norvell Ambersun on both clients. I sell a "Membership" that offers a tan per week- is this too much tanning?? Do you offer weekly Airbrushing packages? Thanks!! |

If you know them well, have them take a Zyrtec or Benadryl prior to tanning & see if that helps. I broke out on my chest once & it was a reaction to the laundry soap I was using on the washcloth I was exfoliating with. I tan once every 7 days so I have to soak/scrub my old tan off. I have lots of clients who tan once a week also. I think it's fairly common to tan weekly:-) |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Extremely Itchy irritated skin after airbrush!? It actually happened to me. It didn't start out that way, it got gradually worse each time I sunless tanned and was inreasing frequency. Mine was Mystic booth and it would happen with the clear and the bronze solutions both. It began with with irritated, itchy then migrated to bad breakouts, then finally to stinging so bad as soon as I came into contact w/the solution . I finally had to stop. I tried it again once about a year ago and it did okay, but I could tell it was wanting to react and feeling weird, so I stopped right away. I contacted Mystic and they never could get it figured out. I suspect I was having a reaction to the DHA. If I'm not mistaken I think norvell is the one who actually invented Mystic, so the solution could be similar? Not sure about that though...

I have never had that happened to any of my clients. few things you need to look into is did these clients change their preparation products or have changed their diet or started on some type of medicine. If all these answers are "NO" then closer look at the solution you are spraying and I just reread your post, you said this happened to more clients,I would definitely look at the products I am using to make sure nothing in those products have changed. call up the solution company and give them the lot # and see if they can search out the problem. Also order some new different products and try that just to see how clients are reacting to other products. avoid products with alcohol and fragrance, two of the main ingredients can cause problem to sensitive skin and over use of those ingredients can make normal skin become irritated and inflamed. I would not suggest or give any medication even over the counter meds to clients ever or not even sugest, rather ask them to visit their doctor or dermatologist to make sure everything is all right with their skin condition. Rep Power: 14 | Re: Extremely Itchy irritated skin after airbrush!? I have had it happened a few times. After doing a test spot, seems they are allergic to DHA. It progessively got worse as they got more exposed. But yes, it could be numerous other things as well. If I exfoliate too hard, it creates micro cuts that get inflammed by the solution . It will also open your pores too much if you scrub too hard. |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Extremely Itchy irritated skin after airbrush!? I really think you're right Delaney. I believe I am allergic to DHA which really sucked b/c I was a spray tan only salon and we all know owners have to be tan, so I had no choice but to incorporate UV in my salon.

I rarely get sprayed...mostly because I am the only full time tech and when my personal assistant is here she is busy doing salon work, so I dont have her spray me. Doesnt really effect much for me. I wish I sprayed more, but it is what it is. When I had my tanning salon, depending on who was asking, I would say it was a spray or bed tanning lol |

I hear ya sistah, I kept spraying b/c I owned it and had to set an example for clients, then it got so bad I was literally hanging on to the walls gritting my teeth through the stingingas soon as it even touched me. After I incorporated UV, I would tell em, the same thing accordingly, lol
