Suggestions for creating client accounts

I am a super small airbrush tan service (just me). I am looking for a way to create/keep track of client accounts, such as; track their packages, solution I use on them, EFTs and things like that. Ive thought about salon software but Im assuming its out of my budget. I would like something I could do from my ipad (onsite). I use Quickbooks for accounting & tried to figure out a way to use it for that purpose but no luck (not super QB savy). And the ipad app is also very limited on what you can do. Any reccomendations are much appreciated!! Thank you!

Not sure what solution you are using, but sjolie has a handy little app. Search for it in your app center: mysunless.

I have multiple locations, so my needs are a bit different. I use Salontouch. There are tons of options out there, most will let you test them out before you buy :)

Re: Suggestions for creating client accounts

I am still starting out as well and what I did was order a client book from Sally's that is meant for a hair stylist to keep track of their color formulas (I know Sally's isn't a professional store, but I just needed a quick client book). It allows me to see what kind of information I will need and want from the client, and how I want the information organized before sinking money into a software that may offer things I don't need. It can be a pain to remember to write everything down, but I have learned my lesson on overspending for software! Hope this helps!

Re: Suggestions for creating client accounts

I keep track of my clients through a spreadsheet I made through GMAIL in the google documents. I have clients fill out a card at their first appointment that I keep track of their tanning solutions on, then input then into the spreadsheets. I also use the google calender on gmail to input appointments. It is easy to keep track of appointments and it also emails the clients when they set their time and also to remind them. My email is linked to my cell phone. This system has been free and very efficient for me so far. Hope you find something that works for you.

Re: Suggestions for creating client accounts

Cobella,

Do you have excel on your computer. It is an amazing tool. A lot of people aren't aware of just how much you can do with it. I always like the idea of using paper to to track information in addition to software. But you can really come up with some amazing things on excel Its important to track, who your clients, are when they visit, financials, costs, 'recipes' etc.

You can even go so far as to watch how your promotions work. you can view what percentage of client turn out you had and what overall increases you've seen in your business. How much you gained or lost. The sky's the limit. And the best part is its usually included with a computer when you buy it.(no added costs)

Its important top keep track of things like that. To many times I hear of people saying I ran a promotion and the turnout was great and I ask them questions like, How many new clients did you bring , or how many additional spray tans or service did you gain. How much was the cost per gain ratio, I don't hear any concrete answer. Data is key guessing can allow you to continue doing things that work less well than others.

I guess it all depends on what your goals are and your budget, and of course expertise. There are plenty of videos on line that could help you to set it up to your liking, Id say the most important thing to do first is identify what it is you are looking to track first. and begin learning how to use.
