Age/Sun Spots

I've had a few of my clients tell me that they're age/sun spots get darker after their spray tan . I find it's mainly my older clients. If it's just a select few spots I have them dab a bit of lotion on them before their tan and it prevents them from darkening up. However, I have some that have them everywhere on their body. And how do I know which spots will take it more than others? I know I have a few darker spots on my face and my spray tan covers it better. I guess it's got me a bit worried because I overhead someone in the grocery store line talking about how she hated her spray tan (from a competitor) because they didn't tell her how dark it would make her spots, but looking at her I thought how would I know it would do that if she came to me? Do I preface that before I tan each client? Any advice? Thanks!

Re: Age/Sun Spots

I have many freckles, and yes from spray tanning it has made some darker, However I spray tan every week. I have never had anyone complain about it though when I spray them. The only clients that I refrain from spraying their face are those with melasma, but some do want a quick spurt, however they know it can make the spots darker and they agree

Re: Age/Sun Spots

Clients that have a lot of age/sun spots i have put a light layer of plain moisturizer on right before I spray them. They still get just as dark but for some reason it keeps it from bring out the spots.

Re: Age/Sun Spots

Do you use a barrier cream ( moisturizer with mineral oil, for example)?
