One spray the day before and one spray the day of competition. We just switched to JanTana. It is way more Brown in color!! And does not have the alcohol smell of ProTan. |

Many clients I've talked to usually only want their tan to last for the duration of the competition for the reason that the tans that are appropriate for the stage are not so for just walking around. If they want the tan only for the competition then you should try to find a solution called a Bronzer, or a DHA free spray product--these will coat the body builder exactly as a spray tan would, but because it has no DHA solution in it they can just wash it off after the competition. If they want to keep the tan, or maybe they have several competitions lined up, then either could potentially work--if they are willing to walk around with that over-the-top competition tan look then go with that, but I think you'd be surprised how many bodybuilders out there don't even realize they have a choice in the matter. With that being said: A good solution will have a bronzer in it, whether it has DHA or not, so that when you are spraying you can see the difference instantly. It's basically like a coloring guide so that you don't over or under spray--simply spray until they are satisfied with the color. The reason why I'm avoiding telling you a "magic number of coats" to use is because there isn't one. Every body is different--people have different skin tones, different wants, needs, and perceptions. With that in mind simply ask them what they want, spray them and have them look in a mirror: then repeat until they are satisfied.
