HVLP dark knees and elbows

I am new to using the Maximist HVLP machine. I have used an airbrush for a while and had that technique down. But I'm having a few issues with the HVLP. I have a had few paople who's knees and/or elbows are getting to dark. This may sound stupid, but how do I keep it from doing that? I have tried putting more barrier cream around those areas, but it leaves those areas whiter. So I decided to put less. For most people this works, but others it doesn't. How do I efficiently hit the arms and legs good? I spray about 6" away. Do I need to spray at this distance, pull further away when getting to the knees and elbows, and then get closer to finish the arm or leg off? I have watched training videos and they don't do that, so I'm not sure. Hope I'm not sound absolutely dumb here...

Re: HVLP dark knees and elbows

You have to use blending cream mixed with almond oil really light on the feet and hands and heavier on the elbows and knees because they really grab color and pull orange. Prep is not an option its a must!

barrier cream then lightly spray that area, further distance away then u usually would do, so it's not such a high concentrate of solution in that area.

I don't use any barrier cream at all with the exception of the feet because I do not use the sticky feet. You have to spray all areas just extremely lighter in the hands, knees, elbows, ankles and sometimes around their arm pit. It looks easy but it takes lots and lots of practice to master your spray gun.
