Re: Will You Spray Pregnant Women?

I didn't say anything bad about uv tanning. I have nothing against it, I used to uv tan all the time, it's just that spray tanning is a better fit for me now. All I was saying that for me, if I were ever to get pregnant again I would not do spray or uv tanning because I have been told by doctors in my first pregnancy that there is just not enough known about it and it is best to just be on the safe side and not do it. And that is my choice just like it is another's choice to decide to do it. That's all I was saying. Then somebody has to read my post and assume that I'm bashing uv tanning and that was not it at all. We are all here to help each other. We all have businesses that we are trying to make successful. Why do some people have to divide everything into categories and argue about which is better: spray tanning or uv tanning? I'm really tired of it. Like someone else said, why can't we all just be friends?

Re: Will You Spray Pregnant Women?

Here is my supplier's reply to this question. THey got back with me on Friday.

Our internet has been down today due to storms so I apologize for the delay in response.
The solutions are made of natural ingredients so it should be ok but there are no studies that have been done. You were correct to tell her to check with her physician for his opinion. As long as she doesn't inhale while being sprayed...
Also, if they are breast feeding, we recommend that you do not spray the breast area.
Hope this helps!
Thank you,

Re: Will You Spray Pregnant Women?

All the Dr.'s here recommend spray tanning and also UV tanning when prego, like Delaney said, they usually say, "just don't overheat".

@TS Tans Thanks for the information, never thought about breastfeeding, good point. I just think protect them from fumes for the majority of the session and all would be ok.

You're welcome. I hadn't thought about breast feeding either.

Re: Will You Spray Pregnant Women?

I suggest they consult their doctor first, and wait until after the first trimester. I have them wear nose plugs, and suggest the organic solution. We spray quite a few pregnant women though.

Re: Will You Spray Pregnant Women?

DHA is FDA approved and safe to use while you are pregnant, we spray pregnant women, and on our new client forms there is just a disclaimer that says we recomend that they consult with there doctor but it is up to them and we are not held reliable. Pregnant women get there hair dyed, I think those fumes are much more harsh than airbrushing... I would encourage it for sure over UV

Why would you encourage a spray tan over a real tan?

Sorry but that is not correct, the FDA has never issues any "approval" for DHA except in foods; nor have they ever "recommended" sunless tanning.

Be very careful how you word things.

Just cover your booty and have them sign that they checked with thier doctor.

Re: Will You Spray Pregnant Women?

In the 1970's the USDA approved DHA & added it permanently to their list of approved cosmetic ingredients.

DHA is considered the most effective sun free tanning additive.

DHA does not damage the skin, and is considered a safe skin coloring agent.
